I did all this in 2022 Parts very hard to find. Including the G3 bayonet. It took me a while but I found them on different sites. Way over priced I bought the PTR 32 only because I wanted the 7.62x39 round. When I finally got the gun and parts I was so excited. The lug fit. The bayonet fit perfectly into the lug but because of the shorter barrel the bayonet can’t be secured to the muzzle. It’s a few inches too short. I was pissed!!! Guess I have to get the ptr91

I've had the 32 and the 91. I eventually sold the 32 SBR, actually a PDW I think. I still have my 91 and it's one of my favorite guns. I hope you end up getting one too. There's a lot of surplus stuff out there for them that is relatively cheap.

Does the lug plug in somehow to the cooking tube? I don't like the play the tube has with the handguard

@Bruce Butcher ok thx, yea I modded my slim line handguard to accept a pic rail and added a forgrip only to find out that the cocking tube is not attached to the triple frame and Is just kinda floating there and has play. Would be great if the lug will secure it

Bayonets in general are not to be sharpened they are by design blunt weapons to inflict as much trauma as possible so a blunt blade actually causes catastrophic damage once the soldier pierces the body he twist the bayonet to inflict great internal body damage. If you sharpen it it will make a nice slice into the body and easier to repair unlike a unsharpen blunt object.

I guess you’ve never handled a bayonet before, they’re usually not sharpened

Very cool looking, Pretty unique even on a G3. Really Badass when combined with the Wide Forend and light Bipod and a Collapsible stock.

The Geneva convention dictates that bayonets should NOT e sharpened and as issued by the factories they were dull.
@BracesandBoots1

That's interesting. It kind of makes you wonder what the intent was there. I can't imagine that getting stabbed by a dull bayonet is somehow more humane. I've also been told that the crucible style bayonets were similarly banned, like the ones you get with a Mosin Nagant.

A bayonet is not a knife. There is no need for them to be sharpened, as bayonets are for stabbing. The weight and force of a person thrusting a weapon with a metal blade at the end is enough to pierce a soft target. Additionally, the dull blade doesn't place the user at risk of cutting themselves with handeling the bayonet.

I have an A3R and as I depressed that detent, it popped into the tube and the cap still refuses to come off. Advice?
@BracesandBoots1
8 жыл бұрын
No, sorry to hear you're having troubles. Once the detent is pushed, there should be nothing to hold it in place, unless it was put in before the finish had cured. Maybe its adhered a bit. I think I'd try to twist it until it freed up and try tapping around the tube with a soft mallet. Mine cap looks like its made out of soft aluminum and it would be easy to scratch up, so use some caution. Good luck!

i was served in the Hellenic army for 18 months with G-3 service rifle and using this bayonet. the baynets they were not sharpent, its the norm on the bayonets not to sharpent as oposed to combat knifes, with bayonet you mostly used to stubb so they are adequate for their purpose!

+Bill Eichhorn If you're really into the bayonet, you can get an original HK flash hider from Roberts RTG for next to nothing. You'll probably pay more for shipping. www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/Flash-Hider-and-Muzzle-c38.htm

Thank you! I installed my Adapter on my PTR910=-GI. The German Bayonet is about 4 inches shorter than the Spanish Bayonet. So I'm going with that vs. the HK Bayonet. Anyone want to buy my REAL HK G3 Bayonet, scabbard and adapter? $150 obo

Is this a 16 or 18 inch barrel? will it work on either?
@BracesandBoots1

This particular rifle is 18" and I have another that is the PTR-32 PDW (not sure of the length, but very short) and it works on both of them. My guess is that it will work on all of them that have the provisions for a bayonet lug. The only issue I've run into, is if you swap out your birdcage flash hider for an aftermarket one that is larger, the bayonet ring won't fit over it.

@BracesandBoots1

Sling options are a bit limited as it is currently configured. It's basically a clone of the HK 91 or G3 and there are a lot of milsurp items available. Google RobertsRTG.com. Many folks aren't happy with what's available, so the mod market has stepped in to provide some sling solutions that you might like see www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=6&f=9&t=317340 . This has always been my favorite rifle.

Having done it, it makes a lot of sense that you shouldn't. However, it takes and holds a very nice edge. It's also a great belt knife on the cheap. Again though, having both edges sharpened limits what you can do with it.

The GI version and the PTR-32 PDW don't come with a bayonet lug, just the cover plug. Other versions may come ready to receive a bayonet, I just don't know. The lug is really just that easy to switch out, but use some blue loctite. I've already lost two of the set screws. They back out from recoil.
