Thanks for sharing! How's the splice holding up? I was wondering using a range of adhesives alone and with the pins. Reads like for the Singer 758, a gentleman has spliced using a similar method though bending the pins and not cutting since they came apart when cut flush and not bent and cut.

Absolutely great. You might also try to make the hole before cutting in diagonal the belt. Then after your cut, you're just going back where you already past. Just a suggestion!

You are a life saver. I needed a very specific length of belt and with quarantine right now, ordering the custom loop would have taken forever. I found that when I tried the diagonal cut, the belt would slightly skew under tension, but with a tongue-and-groove cut instead, it had better results. Thank you!

And what do you do when yours break and the fastest you can get them is five days... While you have an order waiting that has to be fulfilled in 2? This is a lifesaver when you can't get new belts.

This is just the name of a timing belt -- it should be 2GT -- but the 3D printing community calls it GT2 for some reason. -- We use it in 3D printers not a Porsche.

Just a suggestion...use a "smaller diameter pin" when making holes - then use larger pins (that will follow holes). OR just use smaller diameter "pins" and use them! YOU NEED to be careful with a sturdy jig - to ensure your holes are straight. Might evem "consider heating your pins", before making holes ?

since you have such long pins, reprint the jig with a block that goes on TOP with deep holes that can guide the pins perpendicular to the belt face to help with alignment, also numerous smaller pins might help with the force as it prevents the ripping of the rubber as you force the pins through

Some ideas for improvement: Design the joining jig with holes on the backside so that it guides the pins when pinching the holes in the belt. When you insert the pins they protrude through the same holes, no need for taking the belt out of the jig. This should lower the risk for misalignment. Use some glue (CA? ) to reinforce the jig

Why not just use transparent acrylic for the guides?
