They weren’t direct bolt on, had to drill the original threads out and bolt to a bracket that the brembos themselves bolted onto

I am doing a total swap to my subaru impreza 2.5 2006 not turbo to wrx, currently my spinled knuckles are 5x100 and I already have my brembo calipers but I can't install them because I need to get some 5x114 spinled knuckles and they are not easy to get for the price but I see In your video, to my surprise, you removed that piece and I can't put it back in.... Please help me, I've been wanting to install my calipers for almost a year and I can't... I mean, it's not necessary to put that piece back in.

Your front control arm bushings were not installed correctly, the compliance holes need to be inline with the balljoint, you install them 90 degrees off from that angle. Note the orientation of the old vs new bushing.

I can’t remember exactly but I think I used VHT. But whatever I used I wouldn’t use it again. It was too soft and scratched easily. Next time I’ll take some extra time and do powder coat

Nice work... can i ask you this shock absoreber. this is a monotube or twin tube.
@Mark-ei7yh

Not my place to answer, but I believe the Bilsteins for 2005-09 front are inverted monotubes….unlike Bilstein B6’s for a number of more recent applications (like 2013-2014 Outback and others, where the fronts are twin tube (despite what some generic advertising might say). My JDM rears are monotube, I ASSUME all rears are.

Where did you get the adapter brackets for the calipers from? Also what year ctsv are the calipers from along with required rotors? Also what size wheel is required to clear the calipers?
@jeffmalone4105
Жыл бұрын
Here’s the link to the brackets ctsvbrakeswap.com/collections/subaru-kits/products/frs-brz-gt-86-4-piston-ats-caliper-bracket-kit It will also answer all your other questions in there. They say most aftermarket 17” rims will clear the inner barrel diameter but I also had to space the wheels out a bit because the caliper was contacting the inside of the spokes on the wheels

Are your Bilsteins with OEM springs?
@jeffmalone4105
Жыл бұрын
At first I used the oem springs but the front ride height was a pretty high, you can see it at the end. I think it was taller because the Bilstein struts recommended top hats off of the legacy spec b. I ended up buying some lower springs with a 1.2 inch drop and that brought it back to the stock height

@@jeffmalone4105 I see. Aside from the ride height. How was the ride quality with OEM springs? Was it improved with the B6's?
@jeffmalone4105

@@nopavementplease6158 Unfortunately I don’t really have a good answer for that. I barely drove the car with the b6’s and oem springs. I swapped to different springs a couple days later. To much had changed to give you an isolated answer on how they b6’s alone feel. Soon I’d like to do the same to the rear and maybe I can give you a better answer on that.

I recently replaced my LGT wagon MY2004 lower control arms and one month later the struts with Bilsteins B4s. Reused the OEM springs. The ride became firmer but not uncomfortable. I also noticed the front seemed higher after I replaced the lower control arms BUT before replacing the struts. My mechanic said the front would settle after a period of time. Not sure after how long though. 🤔
