Surprising conclusion, well researched and analyzed. I don’t see why the patriarchal slipper is used for Hindu slapping so often especially when Christianity and Islam are blatantly Patriarchal right in your face too. In Christianity, the issue of whether women had souls or not was hotly debated till a hundred years back. Ordination of female priests is still a few and far between event. I think about six to date. No female pope etc women weren’t even allowed in synagogues. God as a male figure etc. In Islam, Aisha’s marriage, 16 odd wives, inheritance rights, triple talak, Halala, 72 hoors, sex slavery, women’s social status, the list is endless. The more you think the more you write. But we never ever hear the word patriarchy ever used in their context. Why?

Thank youh soo soo muchhh diii as this question was just testingy faith in shri ram that should I consider him as my god or not but through your explanation I got the real reason behind this incident I knew that people of that time even of this will only think that rama left his wife because he himself doubted her purity but no he was just trying to change mentality of people .

This is what the God Rama wanted. He completely achieved his mission as a Great Husband and as a great Lover. God Rama has completely wiped out the blames on Sita Devi , instead, created a sympathy on her by making Sita do the Agni Pariksha and by sending her to the Valmiki ashram in the forest that he took all the blames on him which is actually happening right now that we are all pointing our fingers on Rama even after all these years as Ramayana was happened some lakhs of years ago, we're still blaming Rama but not Sita. Ram's mission achieved. Can't hold my tears anymore.

These classical notes and your expressions are still in my mind. Very nyc speculation, shree ram was incarnation of lord narayan maha vishnu,master of all the parallel universes, and mother sita was incarnation of maha laxmi, they can never be separated it was just ram leela,we must not judge the actions of shree ram and fully surrender to the lord .we donot have the capability to understand the leelas with our senses it is beyond our perceptions.and about kaikeyi she went to saket lok she has promised rama to play part in his exile according to adhyatma Ramayana

This was a great perspective. However, let me offer you my take. If we understand that world is Maya and all living beings are ripples in Brahman, we know that we all are as much divine as Ram was. So why was Ram an avatar. In my intuition, I think of avatar as closest one can be to Moksha. At that stage, the human has transcended bonds to his physical form. Rama Krishna Paramahansa was considered avatar. He was not a king but he also had transcended his mortal bonds. So Ram or even Krishna teach us to follow Dharma with complete dispassion. A prince should not give up his throne but Ram did when his dharma demanded. He should not have sent his pregnant wife to forest but he did based on his understanding of his dharma. You are trying to justify his actions based on your moral compass. But Ramayana is not a moral lesson, it is a lesson on managing inner conflict and abiding by Dharma even at a great personal cost. Morality is fluid but that inner strength of character is not.

Pls tell in simpler words why Lord Ram abandoned Devi Sita
@mspatnaik

@@shilpis6304 I am not an expert but in Valmiki Ramayan as well as in Ramcharitmanas, Ram doesn’t abandon Sita. This is in Uttara Ramayan only.

@mspatnaik ok thanks a lot for replying. But I was hoping you would answer the question....why Ram abandoned Sita...assuming that happened. Just one thing that I feel is managing your inner conflicts is also about managing your morals, your conscience. I loved the way you wrote...keep writing maybe even professionally. Best wishes
@mspatnaik

@@shilpis6304Thanks. I don't doubt existence of Ram and the fact that he was an avatar. Some of the legend around him is part of cultural evolution. Lets just think this way about Uttara Ramayana. The group of authors helped evolve that story based on their understanding of morality. In the authors' view, Ram had to keep the interests of his kingdom above that of his own. They didn't grant Sita the feminist agency and in many ways relegated her to a secondary role in the story of Ram. We need to read the text to really fathom this completely. However, I will just say couple things. Several retellings of Ramayana are divinely ordained including the Ramananda Sagar version. Anything that keeps Ram's name on the lips of a devout populace would be promoted by the sattvic forces of nature including chiranjeevi Hanuman (who never left this reality). So a divinely inspired author can write a version of Ramayana that might not be the same as Valmiki Ramayana. As long as the inspiration was divine and has the blessing of ganas of Rama, I believe alternative tales emerging from those are equally valid. Our reality cycles through infinite kalpas and manvantaras. So Ramayana has played and replayed infinite times. So the important question is was Uttara Ramayana a divine revelation. If it was, then it is the word of God. If it was, then the same rules apply as in my original post. The tale is not a moral lesson but a lesson to transcend self and fulfil the calling of dharma.
@shilpis6304

@mspatnaik Thank you. Your writing shows absolute clarity of thought and skillful articulation. You are open to possibilities and acceptance of alternate theories, if they are divinely ordained. Sadly, there is no way of knowing the real intention of Uttara Ramayan. Imo, it was added to show Ram in grey shade, one who gave in to the demand of the subjects instead of standing by what is Just. Also, although he stood by so many women in his life time, abandoned his wife when she probably needed him the most, is also , quite out of character. What was the Dharma of that hour ., to stand by truth or people appeasement ., am not too sure. Morality and Dharma are not dual in existence. Having said this, I have been worshipping Ram even before these questions held any relevance., and no matter what will continue to do so. Thanks for taking out the time and efforts to reply and write with such clarity. Wishing you the best in whatever you do !
