you dont use the DEFAULTS.. that is used if all lenses show the same error meaning the camera is out, you should adjust the saved settings, that will allow adjustments for each lens fitted..

Nice concept. Could use craft wood or harder cardboard. The epoxy on the board is not necessary. Masking tape or duct tape is enough.

This is a great choice but you mentioned that it is for micro-calibrating your DSLR... Just wondering if it can be used to calibrate the SIGMA Lenses that use a dock (SIMGA Cal. Dock) Having to constantly connect and disconnect the lens from my DSLR invites dust to get onto the camera's sensor. Anyone who owns such an expensive glass I am sure can vouch for this argument! In order to properly calibrate the Sigma Art, Contemporary, Sport, etc... lens, it MUST be removed from the camera, mounted to the SIGMA DOCK and calibrated by using the software that Sigma suggests in order to get the full potential of both lens and dock. Anyways, Calibrating the camera is one thing but in order to correctly calibrate the lens, it must be done OFF camera. WOW!! Talk about tedious!

Yes you are right it is tedious, but when you consider how many photos you and I have taken that were out of focus it a price worth paying to get great results more of the time, you still have to worry about camera shake/fast enough shutter speed or you will still have blurry photos.

The problem with using cardboard is that you cannot make sure it is perfectly flat, if not it will effect your focus results.

Hi. I have a d7000 and the tamron 28 to 75. I've calibrated it with your method on that distance but when i try to focus lets say 5m on the eyes the focus is still wrong. Any advise on that. Thanks for the video.

hi i have a d7100 and let me know if you buy the Tamron 28-75 2.8 or 2.8 sigma 17-50 . thanks
@CraftyCamsAndCo

Tomas Llanos I believe the D7100 is a cropped frame nikon. The tamron 28-75 is a full frame lens, and the sigma 17-50 is a crapped frame lens i believe. You can still use the tamron on a cropped frame camera with that being said and it's still very good.

Tamron looks better! And what a darn price difference. AND the Tamron has VC. Funk that. My mind is made up. Tamron it is!!

sean cochran that tamron has not VC, they are using the old model 28-75/2.8 not the new model 24-70VC
@CraftyCamsAndCo

Felix De Vega Vazquez that's correct... the Nikon compared also does not have VC. The newer Tamron lens is a bit more expensive but does include VC and is still cheaper than the nikon 24-70

Seriously...? the Tamron looks sharper to me in most of the test especially in the 70 * 75 100% 2.8 crop. Look at the word SHURE. Even though thats not the point of focus, the tamron managed to get it all in focus. Weird? But my decision has been made especially due to the fact that i dont have the $1000+ money to buy the Nikon lol.
