I am 38 and born and raised in New jersey. I have learned my maternal family is from Sciacca. They came to the US around 1890. I am now planning to visit one day and and see the land my ancestors called home.

Lovely dance and energy! We visited Sicily (Cefalu, Palermo and Monreale) this summer, what a wonderful place this island! Wish I could learn this dance... Greetings from France.

@@herbertchapmanafc1246 Yes, and Sicily is on the Moon!… LOL This is definitely italian traditional, this kind of art is widely known as tarantella, that's been named after the city of Taranto, which is in fact in another italian region (Puglia/Apulia)

My family are from Syracuse. My grandparents and father migrated to Australia in the 60’s. I was born in Australia but grew up with all these beautiful Sicilian traditions and I have been there three time now. I always feel home when I’m in Sicily.

Italian and Spanish are veryyy similar, I'd say that in the south some dialects could have a perfect convo with a native Spaniard (since the south was invaded by Spanish people, some of the language stuck)
