We have a GE Monogram French Door with bottom freezer..Fixed same issue BUT had we known we would have started at the back of the fridge FIRST and checked the drain tube that goes into the evaporator drain pan. You will most likely will see the culprit, in our case there was a blockage in the rubber gasket that is shown in this video. We snipped the opening to make a little bigger. Once cleared it flows freely as it should.

Why are the tube holes designed that way? Why not just cut the middle part so it's one big drain hole? Is there a purpose for it to drain slower?

If you re-install the grommet, the problem will happen again. Cut off the restrictive duckbill feature and this problem will go away forever.

My fidge is doing all this..I haven't checked out the grommet yet. When I do can I just make the 2 little holes 1 big hole? Will that help it from getting clogged?

Awesome video! Probably saved me about $500! My problem was the grommet in the back. Once I took the clogged grommet off, there was a flood of water that came down... for others with this issue you may want to be prepared with towels and a bucket.

Three weeks ago I emptied the freezer and refrigerator, left it unplugged for about 24 hours, and started all over. Alas, same problem. Today your video told me about that gasket in the back. Sure enough it was clogged. Hoping this is the solution. I am still leaving the darned thing unplugged for 48 hours. Thank you so much for a great lesson!

Is there any reason why I can't drill this out to make a larger hole? Is there a reason for making the two holes so small?

@@trisk_7398 I did drill it out. In addition, cut the smaller bottom off the plastic tube to allow it to be larger. Been a month so far no problems. Its been a month with no issues

This video helped me out immensely. My grommet was clogged with some shards of the insulating foil which then backed up the water and froze up and caused water to pool up outside of my freezer about once a month.

if you want to damage your fridge, than use hair drier. inside the freezer area is an evaporator not condenser.

I killed the power to the fridge and then used a hair dryer to melt the ice that built up in the tray. Can’t just leave my frozen goods out for 24/48 hours. Haven’t had any issues, been about a month.

Once you get the drain unclogged, should there regularly be water in the drip pan at the bottom?
