To be clear, this is a compliment. This has huge "artist from the 1600s sculpts an animal they have only ever read written descriptions of" energy.

Well done! A bit smaller than the scale I normally use, (The "28 mm" scale for gaming miniatures) but excellent looking all the same. 😁👍🏼

Always cut away from you. Doesn't matter if you're opening a letter, chopping meat and veg in a kitchen or doing woodwork metalwork or this. Always always move the blade saw etc if handheld AWAY FROM YOU and keep safe no matter what you're doing

You might try a serrated knife blade for your snap blade knife; Olfa makes one. They're made to slice insulation foam; and will make less mess than a saw. Hope that's helpful, nice work!

Why so dark? As far as I can say, most castles are of clear stone. Even the real Carthage amphitheater is of clear stone.

If you use simple wood glue to glue the foam, you won't have the problem of the foam dissolving because it uses water as a solvent. There is also the trick of adding a little wood glue to the paint you are priming the foam with. This gives you a hard layer that protects the texture of the foam.
