Esta musica marca a nostalgica antologia de uma época da humanidade que se perdeu com a tecnologia.

I am 70 years old and so thrilled I found this recording. First I heard this song may be 50 years ago on the TV in Moscow. There was an International Music Festival with boring songs and politically correct commentator. We had a giant recording "magnetofon" with large tapes, which were rolling with incredible speed and were able to record only several songs on one tape. When the Christie came to the stage I felt in my gut that something incredible was going to happen and pressed the recording button: it was "Yellow river". We looked at each other with my father smiling, shouting and dancing. The commentator was ruing the recording by saying what a cacophony it was and so on. I am enjoying this song again now listening from Arizona. Thank you Christie and all other musicians with uplifting spirit. PS After that life took my to journeys of my "Yellow rivers": I lived in Budapest near Danube, then in Windsor near Thames....

The backing track was played by The Tremeloes, not Christie. The producer swiped out the vocals from The Tremeloes version when the band declined to release it as a single, consider it too pop-oriented. Truly the biggest mistake for the band at the time.

MTV came on the air in August of 1981 with their first video by the Buggles. The man who filmed this video was 11 years and 4 months before that catastrophe. Watch the foreground and background in this vid. It is authentic Britain in the 1960s. The guy that filmed this deserves an Emmy.

Jeff Christie's great song 'Yellow River' with the Tremeloe's great band track, which makes up the recording group 'Christie' capturing the 'sound' and style of Creedence/CCR without attempting to sing or sound exactly like John Frogerty - I love the guitar solo which like Froggy's guitar solo on 'Proud Mary' the guitarist here - (Ricky Westwood on either a Hagstrom or Framus 12-string electric guitar) also channels Steve Cropper's succinct guitar picking style for 'Yellow River' - (the bass player also has that Duck Dunn attack!) Even the riverboat visual of the video (even though it is shot on the Thames outside London) echoes the CCR/Proud Mary sentiment. Great song - always turned the radio up when it came on. I always wondered if the song was about the Yellow River in China/ SE Asia since the writer of the song sings about coming home after the war. Of course the war being over (which it was not at the time) would put Yellow River somewhere else besides in country. Sorta like CCR's Green River - again, a fictitious place and another daydream getaway born out of longing for more peaceful times.

Yes, I was still in Germany, in year 6 my eyes adored a boy from Finland. I heard him say that he loved this song. Then our class went on excursion by train to Frankfurt zoo and airport. On the train i heard the song played and then I couldn't get it out of my mind and sang it almost continually for half the journey, started to get a few others joining into the chorus, in dodgy English, - there was a skill in adequately parroting English lyrics to give the impression that the singer was fluent in the foreign language song they sang, which I wasn't.
