I see Ron down the wall all the time. Someone said to him "ere, Ron, if you keep climbing every day you're going to end up being quite good"

Awesome climber, and a great bloke from what I have heard, certainly pleasant enough on the one occasion I met him as a starstruck newby (Me not him lol) to the sport back in the early 1990s.Thanks for the upload!

'There may be 20 or 30 people training in a climbing wall gym' - it's such a great contrast to where we are now!

Brilliant. I started climbing in 1982 and remember seeing Ron around the Peak often. He's wearing a pair of Hanwags, which were the big thing before Boreal Fires came along and changed the way we all climb. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I can't remember which episode of the series "Rock Athlete" it was, But Ron made a statement that, Climbers have now reached the limit of technical ability. Technically they can't get any better. But what will happen, Climbers, will get fitter and stronger, and be able to do longer and more technical routes.

So evocative. Some of the in situ tat he was clipping so blithely ...! ' Come on, Ron, do your stuff '. A legend. And rightly so

My arms were shattered by the time by he reached the top of Body Machine. Had to stop for a cup of tea. Totally absorbing film. Great climbing supported by quality camera work , and a rock solid second. Thanks to all concerned

An odd cut together. Bits of Piranha first? Then Rubicon, then back to the vertical area in the Piranha area. Good though. Non-climbers wouldn’t know a thing.

Is that what the first one is? Piranha E6 6b? Looks like Ron is quite far off the deck before the first runner. The stones of the old school!

I bought the VHS of this back in the day. Ron was the hero of me and my climbing friends at the time. When I finally did Body Machine it wasn’t that difficult!

Brilliant! What a legend... Big Ron was the greatest. He's still climbing hard and enjoying it, I see him around sometimes.

Does anyone have any idea where I could get the footage of Ron soloing Darius? I've always wanted to see that - I wouldn't mind paying for it.

Great filming and wonderful clarity. Has a feel of being slightly ahead of its time pointing forward to later climbing films. More please. Remember a short film of Ron climbing 'Sardine' at Raven Tor from around the same time. Sure this was broadcast by Granada in 1982 or thereabouts. Some other climbers featured using vintage gear.

A golden age when grades really started to be pushed. Thanks for uploading. It's up there with other classics such as 'Fingertip Phenomenon' and, slightly earlier, 'Rock Athelete'. Might just take out my original Fires for a clandestine vintage outing on the grit. Brilliant stuff! Look forward to more.
