Cool idea. Although, they do sell an adapter that comes in a 2 pack and comes with 2 flat rubber gaskets and 2 o-rings. They're threaded on both sides one for Intex, Coleman, Game or similar connections temporary pool setups hoses use, I think it's 40mm, and one side to screw a 1 -1/2 PVC female adapter to without doing any modifications on your part.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I've been racking my brain on how to connect my salt pump to my new sand filter and pump. Getting ready to finish plumbing everything in. The paper filters are crap! I advise anyone with an intex pump system to change over to a sand filter and 1 hp pump system. Its well worth the money to have a good system installed

The one thing this guy didn’t tell everybody was when the kids are swimming and rocking and rolling in the pool those rigid connections and the flexing of the side of the pool don’t make a happy marriage. This guy had more leaks than a crowded men’s room

TIP if you have threads on the inside of your pumps (intake / output) you can just buy a screew in coupler , it comes in 1 1/2 (bimart acehardware)

I've got a aftermarket large sand filter pump. And gave the coleman pool. I'm trying to figure out a connector from the factory in-text style hose to adapts to to the 1 1/2" new pump large black hose. Don't wanna cut the intex pipe if their is a adapter that will connect the two.

I looked everywhere and don't think they exist. This idea is by far among the best. There's also a 1 1/2 bushing in the electrical conduit section that seems to be another good option and you don't need to cut.
