You touched on how brands will use their history to promote a young brand and I just have a theory about it. You know how so many people try to legitimise fashion as art? Well I think that tying in their CV is like fashion's was of giving provenance to the designers work, a bit like how many great artists studied under another great artist and that became their initial provenance as an artist before they were established themselves. Obviously I think it comes from the same place, but I think extra emphasis is put on it in fashion as a way to tout the artistic nature

First off thank you so much for your comment! Im a big fan of your channel ! That's a great point connecting a designer's background to a brand's legacy in fashion mirrors how artists gain credibility through their mentors…helping to solidify fashion's status as a form of art. I can see why that’s a significant moment for the designers . Thank you !

Oh wow. I hope you get successful - you deserve it. We need more content that looks at fashion as a craft/art form with context, depth, and texture, and not just hollow aesthetics. Subscribed.

Just found your channel, i really enjoyed this video and look forward to seeing more. It's nice to see content that explores the motivations, culture and philosophy behind fashion; we need more aesthetic dissections / discussion like this, and i feel that you're filling that gap. I'm excited to see your channel grow, and I hope it happens quickly!

I have to be honest,I'm a 30+ mins girlie, and I've been known to listen to 5 hours videos as a podcast.I think it takes time to really understand any subject and fashion is no exception. That said, even your tiktok analysis activates my curiousity and gets me in a more creative mood. You're concise and make a lot of points in a short time, but yeah, for me longer is often better.

So glad I found your channel and decided to watch everything you’ve uploaded so far to find THIS video because this is exactly my dilemma at the moment. I feel my soul draining every time I put on basic “corporate” attire that doesn’t resonate with my style. I’ve been playing it safe because the dress code is crazy strict and as a new hire I don’t want to get called out for breaking the rules. I don’t know … I thought I was being crazy for caring so much about not being able to express myself through my clothes for work but hearing you work through the same problem is so comforting to me! So thank you!!! This inspired me so much truly! I hope you continue to make content; looking forward to it immensely

I'd say 10-25 mins, but even if it is an hour long - it won't stop me if I am genuinely interested in the topic or/and the narrator, and I can press pause at any moment if it's needed. If I wanted 1-minute content - I'd be on TikTok or Insta (: But really - video should be as long as you need it to be in order to deliver whatever your point is. In some cases, maybe it makes sense to do "part 1' and then "part 2" sort of thing. Fully agree with you about the "slow down" approach.

Such a thoughtful and enticing analysis! Honestly, NYFW has gotten very boring to me the last couple years because it seems like storyline is being lost and designers are emphasizing performance (which would be fine if it was done with intent, but its for the sake of getting media coverage most of the time). Ideally, a 20 minute analysis is amazing to me but you do them so well that I'll watch any length and be satisfied! Keep making content, we need creators like you in this space!! ❤

Hey ! I totally agree with you about NYFW. The influencer culture has also changed its allure. The videos I saw for September 2022 NYFW last year were so overwhelming. It was all about getting into the shows and judging other influencers at the events. Barely saw any great feedback about the clothes themselves. I just saw another comment on here that mentioned that KZitem is a completely different platform and we come here for a longer videos so i feel better about long content as long as people are still watching :)

Overall optimistic about this decision, besides initially meeting it with scepticism. It wasn’t until I started reading and thinking that this appointment might be part of a vision for the brand that goes beyond just clothes, that it started to make sense. This year's Moncler Genius show really further cemented this idea of culture over cloth, so it will be very interesting to see how it all unfolds. Awesome video! Keep at it Jané!

I initially didn’t think much about this position being given to Pharrell but then I went back and started looking at his past collaborations I was reminded of how his ideas are sometimes too layered and pulling from different directions to work in tandem for a couple pieces, let alone an entire collection. I completely respect Pharrell’s creative ability to be a visionary when it comes to music, and culture trajectory but I think of creating clothing as more than just ideas. Like you have to understand why you’re translating certain ideas into aesthetics and how exactly to do that in a way that still looks good. Based on what he’s produced so far, I don’t see that he does that well. You can have all the great ideas in the world but if the clothes don’t look good and it’s your final decision what they look like, you have not produced a good collection. But that’s just my opinion. He may prove everyone (including me) wrong 🤷🏾♀️

side note to this : I tried human race when it first launched, but the product wasn’t for me. Then I noticed this skincare brand also doing merch and Adidas collaborations that are honestly not great. He has so many projects going on but we’ll see if it’s possible for one man to do it all !! 🖤
