The spec of this "baby Barricade" looks quite promising and clever enough to minus the cumbersome backward extruding heels from Barricade 12 and 13. I'm seriously considering buying a pair of two. The only thing is I'm wondering why in the recent years big brands are fond of using "trypophobia" designs for their drag guards... (although I personally don't have this problem)

@@footdoctorzachdubbs Thanks! I’m at 192-195, therefore the Head Motion Pro might not be the best shoe. My go to pickleball shoes are Mizuno Wave Enforcer (but can’t find stock currently) and Nike Zoom Vapor 11. Tried Asics Gel Res and Court FF, but toe box too narrow :( Thanks again.

If the 2 WXY V4 is #1 for tennis, would that make it a top candidate for outdoor basketball as well or are b-ball court surfaces harder on the outsoles? I remember the NB Fresh Foam BB V2 made your outdoor basketball list, but I don't think the 2 WXY's did.

Yeah for sure- the outdoor list is tough because you don’t just want to make it the NB and WOW show but yeah they’re great

I'm learning a lot about how shoes work and the effects of athletic movements on the feet, ankles, knees, etc. by watching these videos in addition to the basketball and running shoes on the main FDZ channel. Tennis isn't a sport I'm very familiar with, but I'm still getting a lot out of watching these. And I might want to play some pickleball in the future so getting the inside scoop on what makes a good shoes for both sports definitely feels like an advantage.

Hi Zack I prefer a show that is lower to the ground and dont really like high thick shoes......I play mostly pickleball singles and compete in tournaments so speed is important but also FEEL and softness as well since I tore a peroneous longus tendon and have a bit of achilles tendonitis.....😂😂..All good though. The Adidas Solecourt boost was the best shoe for me. So I am looking for something similar. I tried asics and other shoes and nothing comes close. Would you be so kind to provide your thoughts on the GP Challenge 1 Vs the PRO. Thanks in advance.

What does toebox taper degree mean? The lower degree = more room in the toe box? For example after watching your sole match control 2 video with 21 deg toebox taper vs. Head Motion pro with 9 deg toebox taper, does this mean that Head Motion pro has a roomier toebox?
@footdoctorzachdubbs

I have the 21 ultras, hc and clay. wore them only once. the fit is weird. pity how I couldn't feel it before I play in them, may be I was blinded due to marque and sale price. anyway, watched a few videos saying all the issues are ironed out with the new one. NOPE! if it was 3/10 shoe, now 5/10 at max!

Gotta agree with you on #1, the Lacoste are THAT good. Legit made me smile the first time I wore them. That is how good they are. Bought two pairs of hardcourt and one pair of clay. Really happy with the Mizuno as well, the anti heel slippage tech must be the best in the business. Bit surprised with the #2 pick, maybe the PC Eclipsion 5 is that much better than the 4. I bought the Eclipsion 4 Clay version, and I did not like them at all. Maybe it's just my foot that does not suit Yonex shoes, while they suit Asics/Mizuno/Lacoste. To me they did not feel anything special, very regular sneaker vibe compared to the performance shoe that the Lacoste AG-LT23/Asics Gel Res/Mizuno WET is.

Two wxy v4 ran out of 2E a year ago and never re-stocked. The regular version of the shoe is the most narrow shoe I’ve tried on out of 50 different pairs of basketball shoes this year. It’s absolutely absurd how narrow they are. I’ve tried multiple different color ways and they all destroy my feet. Even for $50 on sale at Dick’s they’re not worth it. I guess I’ll wait for the v5 and jump on the 2E’s early. New Balance needs to do better

I have 3 of these top 5 plus the eclipsikon 4’s. The Lacoste Ultras are hands down my favorite. I do like the yonex 4’s for some of the same qualities as the Lacoste Ultra. The Mizuno is the shoe I wear when my feet are feeling tired but if I need something that feels faster (not saying they are or are not) I go Lacoste.

Grab the Lacoste shoes while you can. According to Tennis Warehouse: “According to our records, the Lacoste AG-LT23 Ultra Tennis shoe is selling out and is not expected to be restocked. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. We do expect to be getting the Lacoste AG-LT25 in the future, probably next year.”

So what makes these great "summer shoes"? You didn't give the specific criteria or reason why they are. It's just like any other top list out there/random list. Is "comfort" and "forgiveness" what makes a shoe great for summer?

Still used Don 4s I bought 6months ago with Powerstep Bridge for hitting the court with my friend. Bought the translucent outsole, so far still gud (tho am just a weekly warrior, so it's not rlly accurate for others). By far the best purchase of mine alongside the Wade All City 11 (reserved for basketball) and Mizuno Momentum 2 (for vball n badminton). They're also dirt cheap at only $70.

How do you like the Mizunos for volleyball? Do they have an advantage over basketball shoes in the weight, cushion, or traction? Maybe a more durable toe for sliding/pancaking? My daughter plays v-ball but she loves her KD15's at the moment.

Since you are in Paris... Noticed that many fencers, especially epeeists, were wearing tennis shoes. Sabre silver medalist Ferjani was wearing Wilson (Rush Pro 4.5?). Also saw several fencers with Gel Res 9's and Mizuno Wave Exceed Tours on the piste. It's not surprising b/c good amount of overlap in the design remit for both sports: Good lateral and torsional stability, balanced cushion, toe guard durability for lunges and slides, solid traction. Would be interesting to see you do a shoe breakdown for fencing shoes (Adidas D'Artagnan V, Nike Ballestra 2 & Air Zoom Fencer, Kempa, Anta) and see how they compare to tennis or other court shoes.

Ahh yes, have good experiences with every shoe on this list besides the Eclipsion due to width. I am sure I would have turned into a fossil before Yonex comes out with a wide version of the Eclipsion. Either that or start making them in 12.5US. **sigh**
