Organs and organists, both becoming rarer by the minute. Only seems 5 minutes since I was doing clubs, now retired but still trying to play like these guys!🎉

I guess it was the very early 1980's in Toronto, there was a period when the still under development Harbourfront complex had free 'after hours' music in what was essentially a small temporary room, The floors were bare, the tables and chairs the cheap plastic and metal tubing kind meant for patios, and the refreshments were really minimal. But I would wait for my parents to get home from their night out with friends so I could take the car and drive 12 miles from the 'burbs down to the lakeshore. It was may be midnight before I'd get there. The musicians were the various notables that had done their individual gigs at the clubs and came to jam. Ed Bickert, Don Thompson, Rob McConnell, Guido Basso (maybe?), and I think Doug Riley and Moe Koffman. Musicians of that ilk. The sun would be coming up when things fizzled out. Free. Great times.

Paul Shaffer's introductions are like a sax solo. The cadenza seems to go on forever. When we get to the final resolution, it's anti-climatic.

All of them have passed on, except for Paul Shaffer. May they rest in peace.
Joey D has now departed this earth, but Dr Lonnie Smith and Doug Riley and Paul Shaffer are still musicians with an impact!! If you love Hammond B3 (and who doesn't) check out Chester CT Thompson.
