Not to rain on the parade but, this is from right around the time we couldn't get state funding for shit on this whole half of the state for another 25 years. The state of Missouri dumped SO much money into making Saint Louis relevant that, every other decent sized city in Missouri suffered for decades. We didn't even see much funding for updates until 2004 or so. Bruce R Watkins aka 71 highway aka I-49 started all of it. Us getting all of our fountains fixed for the world series sure sparked an upswing too.

@@gregg9840 depends on the life you want. You want to live in JOCO? My 35 years has taught me to be ready to spend a lot of your time DRIVING &/or looking for PARKING! Even going to the grocery story for milk or bread is a got damn journey. Some of us even have children we are bringing from JOCO into downtown KCMO to live. My generation is over driving involved to live in the burbs. I got back 2hrs of my day by working from home, and rather than spend 2hrs every weekend caring for a yard i hardly ever even have time to use, we go to the park and play, then get ice cream, and go back to our cozy little apartment that is always easy to keep clean and relax. Maybe she’ll read a book and i’ll work on a private development project a bit, but we have WAY MORE TIME to just live and be happy together. *edit* thought I would add, we chose a small 850sq/ft apt for two because the building is so large and offers private walking & outdoor use space on the rooftop, along with designated amenity rooms like the event/club room, movie theatre, gym, dance/yoga studio, lounge, dog park, dry sauna room, and more. It makes it easier to swallow only having to manage 850sq ft when the rest of your mansion responsibilities you’re used to doing yourself in JOCO are covered for you. I’ve sacrificed nothing, and gained everything leaving JOCO.
