I know this is 4 years old, but follow back the white wire from the coil. Open the loom. I bet you the wire has a kink in it. I had a general conversation with an ezgo rebuilder and he says this is a lot more common and sure as shit, I found a kink in the beaded wire. It caused intermittent power loss, no start, and weak spark.

James- I have sold this bucket and moved on to a newer model. But you have good questions. Im not sure on the + /- but I had gotten it to run both ways. These ignotors are rough and it sucks that you cant get new factory versions anymore. Sorry, I know thats not much help. If youre not a member of Buggies Gone Wild, you should join. Lots of great help there. www.buggiesgonewild.com/

I'm working on a 03 ezgo with the 2 cyl robin Pulse coil at 20.9 ohm, coil primary at 3.6 ohm secondary is 21.8 ohm ( out of spec, but both new ones also out at 17.7 & 18.9 out the box) All grounds replaced and getting ground. New ignitor (3 actually, but 2 from different year ) New voltage regulator. New solenoid. Still no spark. Cranks, but no spark. Even checked to make sure battery didn't somehow switch polarity. I have run 12v through each individual wire, wiggling and jiggling the wire to see if there was any loss of voltage. Nothing. Replaced all connectors, and still no spark. Any recommendations on a fix from anyone would be greatly appreciated

Karl!- I do have an update. Not sure it's going to help or make you happy but mine is running so far. I replaced the solenoid and voltage regulator. I replaced the solenoid cause it fully died. I only replaced the voltage regulator cause you have to take the bolt out of it to get the solenoid off. So I figured why not. But as another update for this year, I started playing golf last month. Weirdly the car ran for about 4 rounds! Then out of nowhere, it did its old tricks, let me drive from the house to course then not run after a warm-up on the range. Last week it really started to fail. So I bought those 2 new parts. Its way stronger and runs right away. I'll have it all day this weekend and report back. In the end, it seems that the solenoid was just slowly dying this whole time. No said to replace that, just coil, coil, coil.... then grounding.

@@StylesE36 that's about the only 2 parts left for me. I was considering the Pick up coil. But just sent back my just purchased coil and carb, they came as a package and the short wire did not spark. I was going to test the Pick up Coil before I replaced it because of the price. I should receive my newly re-replaced carb and coil Friday. I will just order the regulator and solenoid, they are cheap compared to all the other new parts I have replaced. My friend is an electrician, he laughed and told me I might as well replace the rest of the parts and the wire since I am almost there. I'm the mechanic, he has been my friend for 30 years.

I had the same problem then after getting it running about like you did here it stopped. I would drive for a bit and when I took my foot off the gas it would accelerate again. That happened intermittently while trying to get it home. It did make it. It has a new CDI, starter generator, solenoid, igniter, battery, battery terminals and clamps, belts, plugs, filers.......I tightened the grounds and replaced the fuse panels and fuses. I am at a loss. I have run leads across everything under the seat. I need to get it on a lift,

I have no idea why these things get like this. We're not the only ones. Its so weird. So far I replaced the carb and fuel lines as they were getting bad and that seemed to fix it completely for about 3-4 rounds of golf. Then I went to play when it was a little wet out and it did the same thing again, ran fine up to the clubhouse from home (about 5 min drive) Then on the second hole out it wouldnt run and smelled like it was flooding, so no spark. I left it parked there and road the rest of the round with someone else. After playing I went to get my cart and if fired and drove home.... lame. I'm still looking for answers on this, too frustrating for such a simple motor.

Yes its frustrating! So far I've gotten it back working with an Ignitor, new spark plugs, new carb, cleaned all the grounds and repaired ground wires by the battery and replaced the fuel line that was a little cracked. For such a simple motor they are weird to troubleshoot.
