It's also just a technicality of a term, cause he's new to this specific series, but actually a seasoned pilot, and even racer, from the sounds of it. It could actually be a tongue-in-cheek reference to his long career?

That female announcer is awful.. not just about being clueless about this aircraft (because she may not have all the info) I’m talking about how she was calling the race.. didn’t even know her left from her right at one time.

I'm curious what the commentator's gender has to do with this criticism. If a man stumbled on his words while commentating, would you make a comment saying "This male announcer is awful"? But also, commentating is tricky work, sometimes you just slip up (even the best Male pros do fairly regularly)
@smurphy1977

@@treschlet Well how else would I identify the bad one? There is a male and female announcer.. stop trying to make this about gender. If it was two males I would have said the guy that said this or said that.
@treschlet
2 жыл бұрын
@@smurphy1977 ah, the other announcer said so little I forgot there was a second one. Though it does still make me cringe a little when peopl use the word "female" when in reference to a specific person. Like, "the guy ssid" vs "the female announcer said" but that's just more of a personak thing I guess. Like the woman is being more objectified in a way. Still, if there were two men, you'd still have to delineate them. How would you then? Primary vs. backup? Why not use their roles to delineate them here? This isn't meant to be a lecture, just some provoking of thought. You probably didn't mean anything by it. These are the things I try and think of, too, in trying to wipe out some of my own internal biases. They'll never be gone entirely, but it's good to keep thinking about things and improving

@@treschlet You’re right I didn’t mean anything by it at all.. Me saying “female announcer” was the fastest way to point out which one I was talking about.. no confusion. I get what you’re saying but it’s sad when I can’t even refer to people by what gender they are anymore.

I was at a fly-in when my friend buzzed the field in his Cassutt. The canopy opened, he flinched, and in an instant was extremely nose high, power off. He landed uneventfully. His G-Meter said 8&1/2. All in all a good outcome.
