Did you remove them to go even louder? I have a 900 classic with these pipes and want to quiet them down and ad more back pressure. Any tips?

Thank you. Need to try the jack handle trick. I have python slip ons. I started to think they wouldn’t come out. I used needle nose plyers and a number of other things with no luck. I bet there is so much corrosion and carbon that they are just seized up. Will give this a try though.

Wow. Older video but I have the exact same pipes on my 02 Yami vstar 1100. Don’t know what brand they are but they’re exact same. Trying to get some more quiet baffles in there. Just too loud. lol. Will be trying this this week. See how it goes. Cheers from central Canada! 🎉🎉

Did you have to loosen the main muffle clamp bolt? I have taken the two set screws out and still cannot get the sucker to pull out. Thanks!

Do you have the same brand and model pipes? All I had to do is take out the screw that holds on the end cap and then the screw that holds the baffle in. If you have the same brand and model pipes and you took those two screws out then you might have some carbon buildup that's holding your baffles in. That jack handle should be able to pull it out. If you have a different brand or model pipe there might be something else holding it in. I would have no knowledge of any other brand / model then the ones I have in the video.

I ended doing my own baffle mod to these to quiet them down and get rid of the ear-piercing twang they make ($20 in parts). If you still have your bike, give this a try: kzitem.info/news/bejne/s2uYrKWMmKCpo4o

Looks like smartpartz makes baffles for HK exhausts. www.smartpartz.com/SPZHK250AC2.html Did you ever put baffles in? I love this exhaust, thinking of buying it because of your video, but I'm with you about the sound. I don't want to interrupt people's dinner as I ride past downtown main street restaurants. Did you ever do anything to quiet them down or have you gotten use to the loudness?

Guessing he hasn't seen this comment yet, but I'm curious as well. I want a deep rumble sound like this, but I don't want it to be annoyingly loud. Have you found a solution?
@brentseay

@@Kcducttaper1 I bought these pipes. They are loud but not overly loud and not annoying at all. I’ve given up wanting to baffle them. Just make sure to get Ivan’s ecu flash so you don’t get constant backfiring and extra horses never hurt anyone’s feelings.

So what,do you do with the hole that,is their after removing bolt
@markdrozd8457
5 жыл бұрын
The bolt that held the baffle in can stay out as there is no longer a thread for it to screw back into. The other screw must go back in because it is what holds the exhaust end cap securely in place.

Does removing a baffle change the performance of the bike at all?
@markdrozd8457
5 жыл бұрын
I didn't notice any increase or decrease in performance at all. That said I don't have any equipment to test it. The bike will on occasion will have some exhaust pop upon deceleration but I personally like it. The popping can be reduced/eliminated with a fuel control module which will adjust the fuel/air mixture now that there is less back pressure in the exhaust. I think Cobra and a few others make them.

What works just as well is a pilot bearing puller attachment and slide hammer. $62 to rent from orileys and it takes about 30 seconds.

I did not. The bike will on periodic occasions will give off a "pop" sound on de-acceleration when the clutch is still engaged. That pop doesn't bother me and other have told me that actually like it. Im sure others would disagree but to each their own. Other than that the bike runs perfectly and there is no performance issues. If anything it may run slightly better since there is less exhaust back pressure.

I'm having issues getting mine out same pipe and all bolt is hex key and now kinda stripped so what do I do now
@markdrozd8457
5 жыл бұрын
Wow stripped out a hex bolt. I have never seen that happen. You might try to use an "easy out" to get the bolts out. Heating the surrounding metal may help. The easy out looks like a drill bit but in reverse direction. you drill a small pilot hole and insert the "easy out". The "easy out" design then grabs the existing bolt metal allowing you to remove the bolt. Good luck!

How does it sound after you take it out? And also do you have to mess with the fuel after taking it out
@TopNotchPresenters
9 жыл бұрын
No I didn't have to mess with the fuel settings. At times I found there was some popping/backfire but not enough to need a fuel controller. I did notice when the popping came more often that the nuts were loose where the pipes connect to the block. There is one nut that is hard to get a wrench on so air may be seeping in causing the backfire. Overall, it happened only now and then. As far as the sound....I think it had too much of a tin sound and it was only a bit louder. Personally I like the lower tones so I put the baffles back in. I would still like to get the tones lower and remove the higher pitch tones that exist even with the baffles. Final word, these road burner pipes are plenty loud with baffles in and will scare the b-jesus out of someone standing near by when you juice the throttle. Maybe other brand pipes need the baffles removed but these road burners (hardKrome) are plenty loud and good sounding. The road burners the last time I looked can be found on e-bay. The hardKrome brand are twice the price and are the same pipes (made under the same patent). HardKrome and RoadBurner are the same company (different divisions from what my research tells me)

I love HardKromes. Those are the loudest bad azz exhausts out there for 900s. I'm confused between those 3" & the large radius, Also some say the blacked versions chip fast & lose color, the chromed ones may develop blue spots. I have the 2012 orange/black bike & really lost between chrome or black exhaust

also...I do not have a CPU fuel/air regulator. It's stock electronics but backfire is very very minimal if at all. This is a fuel injected bike and I hear that some carbureted bikes may need re-jetting (but I cannot answer for them).
