Nah, I'm gonna need to know how to take your 2-mile scenic route because I wanna check out that little stream you crossed at 3:41 !!!

Haha! That stream should be after the gravel road crossing on the main trail to the falls! However, there's a chance it'll be dry if we've gone a few days without much rain. Have fun exploring! And good luck!

Pease don't go to Peavine. That trail and falls have been over used for years...beaten down and worn out. The falls are seasonal too. So they may be dry. A much more spectacular hike and view is Kings Chair.

Thank you for helping me vicariously visit these parks. I have started a thing for me that I am vicariously and virtually visiting every park in the USA, alphabetically. I am unable to walk over 200 feet without a walker because of back injuries so instead of wishing I could go hiking and visit all these beautiful parks, I have decided to go to the FB pages of each park and watch KZitem videos of those who have visited. I then pick 4 to 5 of my favorite pictures of that park , share them on FB and encourage people to travel with me this way. I already have a few virtual travel buddies. I really like your video and am subscribing to your channel.

It's a beautiful place! You can hike for days out there, but the trip to the waterfall is short enough for a half day hike! Cheaha is really beautiful.

Where did you park to start on this trail
@explorewithjames
3 жыл бұрын
For this video, I parked at the Chinnabee Silent Trail Parking Lot on Hwy 281. That parking lot should show up on Google Maps. The Chinnabee Silent Trail leaves directly from the parking lot, but if you cross over 281, you can follow the trail from there to the falls. It will carry you parallel to Cheaha Road 600G for a short ways, then you'll cross over Cheaha Road 600G to continue to the falls. It's a really pleasant hike. Hope you enjoy!

How long is the hike to the falls?
@explorewithjames

The hike as it's shown in the video is about 2 miles one way. There's also a parking lot closer to Peavine Falls that puts you a lot closer.

@@explorewithjames what is the name of the trail you hiked to get there and how strenuous ?
@explorewithjames

@@CrimsonJam All Trails rates it as a "moderate" hike. I think the hardest part was getting down to the base of the falls once you get there.

I never can find the way down. How do I get there?
@explorewithjames
3 жыл бұрын
As you start to approach the falls you can veer right and end up at a waterside camping spot. But if you keep going to the water and bear left, there's a trail along the cliff's edge. It gets steep at one point as you descend, and at the bottom the trail kind of disappears, but once you're down at the bottom you should be able to find your way back to the falls (to the right). Hope this helps! 😁

I'm not as familiar with these falls as I am with Peavine at OMSP, but several days of rain will definitely make the falls here more impressive. That said, the *walls* at Walls of Jericho are incredible to see. It's quite a trip in and out, and the trek back out is mostly uphill, so come prepared! Hope you enjoy your trip!

Is this fall rain dependent? My husband is working a couple hours from here and looking for some good day hikes when I visit. Falls, overlooks, etc? We usually hike in Arkansas and most are very rain dependent and seasonal.... tips for Alabama be much appreciated!

Hi Dana! Yes, Peavine Falls in the dry season is more of a trickle. A good few days of rain makes it much more enjoyable to see. But I have to say the hike is a nice one regardless!

So glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful! If you happen to be running short on time during your visit, there is actually a parking lot closer to the falls that would make for a shorter hike than you see in the video, but the Green Trail is my favorite way to get there. Hope you enjoy your visit to OMSP! Happy exploring!
