You know how adaptations of Peter Pan have that tradition that the actor who plays Hook also plays the kids' dad? I move we introduce a new one, if the director of the TGWDLM adaptation is physically capable of it, they play Hidgens. Thank you fo coming to my TED Talk.

the way the music cut out during "i want you to want" had me DYING, idk if that was intentional or not but if it was a fluke huge props to that actress for powering through that was so good! and that cup of roasted/poison coffee scene was so tight!! yall are so impressive

Okay last thing I’ll say is the girl who plays Charlotte suited the role so well it made me like realize new things about the character. Jaime Lynn Beatty’s original performance is amazing obviously but I think this actress here is fitting the intended vibe of the character better at least imo

I’m trying not to compare it to the original too much but I have to say I can’t believe how good a Hidgens you did. I feel like I’m watching a Nightmare Time episode with an alternate universe Hidgens. I don’t think the Hidgenses can ever be allowed to meet I think the world would implode on the spot. The Lords in Black would just give up.

I’m really curious what it was like preparing this show from a a creative perspective given that it’s both a very recent and niche show (not something long-established like the Wizard of Oz or something more obscure like Summer Brave) as well as a show that is already immortalized in a video medium - it makes me think of the various Oz productions I’ve worked on and the pressure to make it be just like the movie. But then I’ve also worked on other shows that are well known but we had a lot more creative freedom. So it seems like it would be really interesting to be doing one of the first (the first?) licensed productions of a musical mostly known through its official video version, not to mention that has such an extensive fan base with a deep history and lore surrounding the company. You guys did a great job!

@@rlvids9889Hey i’m the light tech from this production. All of the tech crew really came together and made our first initial set that we all disliked, tore it all down the day before the show and re-made the whole thing and ended up with something we all loved!! a super chaotic experience lol. You can’t see it well in our recording but we have custom made newspapers all around the auditorium with other small easter eggs from other star kid shows. The tech booth window was also decorated!

I love that the opening song is in front of the closed curtain, brings a good sense of both “things coming full circle/being bookended” as well as the fact that the world’s already become a musical before we even learn what happened. It’s Pokey’s world, we’re just living in it…

SO MANY GOOD MOMENTS!!! Everyone did so good, harmonies were stellar, reactions to everything were also amazing. Sam’s actor is just Jeff aged down. Nobody can convince me otherwise. Ted’s actor gets an A++ for his timing, tone of voice, and reactions to everything around him Hidgens gets no notes. Show stealing, just like in the original production.. go girl!! In conclusion, we need more people doing this musical. And everyone has a bright future

dude, this cast RULES. you can really tell that so much love went into this and that the majority of the cast really loved the source material. and McNamara got SUCH a good reaction from the crowd, we love to see it!!! the curtain call with emma being forced to bow is SUCH a good choice too. you guys absolutely killed it!!! if i was in high school still i'd have killed to be in a production as cool as this!!

The kid doing the Jeff Blim characters is actually amazing! It's an adaptation/imitation, but its pristine + he adds his own small things that make it total peak. Sensational, my guy.

I wish I can do this with my school… we’re very small (240 high schoolers and 120 middle schoolers) and we don’t have a drama department with musicals. I’m going to pitch the idea of a student led musical to the school when I get back, our music teacher is really passionate about music, so I think it could work out. We do have a very new (1 year old) drama department, no music though, so maybe the teacher could help out, too. I’ll try to pitch it with some of my friends, though only two are willing to help me and none are willing to participate in it except for me. I’m a 9th grader so I have a lot of time, I know I can make it. Anyway I loved this production, great adaptation and so inspiring. ❤

I will also probably be thinking about "I want him to hold me while I eat noodles" every time I watch Starkid's version from now on lolol

I'm playing Paul in a production next weekend (July 12 and 13, 2024.) Just wanted to say how much I appreciate this version. It's a great production! The choreo is spot on. I think I like this Hidgins better than the original! I've been watching this and the OG production incessantly to help practice my lines. The Emma here is so sweet, love her energy. Also, my wife is Mr Davidson so gets to sing to me about what he wants. My step kid is the homeless guy, Alice gang and smoke club. My non verbal 13 year old is also an extra, in the Smoke Club and in Beanies. Much love from this Paul...you guys did amazing!
