Could someone give me a simple example of how to draw a line, please? I'm struggling
@teaminsanity8216
Жыл бұрын
Hello, to draw a line you need to provide the x and y coordinates for the start and end point. I would recommend using lua.flaffipony.rocks to help you. Here is a simple example that draws two lines. function onDraw() screen.setColor(255, 255, 255) screen.drawLine(10, 10, 30, 30) screen.setColor(255, 0, 0) screen.drawLine(30, 30, 60, 20) end

another tutorial from programer to programmer...what does table means? string?
@teaminsanity8216
Жыл бұрын
Hello. The video focuses more on Stormworks-specfic learning, as things such as a table and string have been covered by countless tutorials online, either specifically on Lua or on programming in general. If you take a search for a Lua tutorial online it should explain the basic data types in greater detail, however, you may also want to start with some more basic programming knowledge.

I feel that the script makes parts of the game unfair. People who know how to use script can get so many subs on steam and on your for there creations only because they have good functionality and aren’t made with the normal game features like everyone else k owe how to use
@teaminsanity8216

Those that implement Lua in their creations have taken the time to learn it and worked hard on creating their scripts to add some polish to their creation. Their work should be appreciated the same as everyone else's. It is simply a feature that allows players to be more creative, there is no balance or "fairness" to keep. Subscriptions on the Steam Workshop aren't everything. While they can provide a nice recognition for your work, you should make what makes you happy! 🙂

Oh you can get a lot of subs with "simple(r)" creations as well, a lot of features are still do-able with logic blocks in Microcontroller and for monitor info display you can grab them from the workshop.

learn it then? of course people who put more effort and complexity into their creations get more subs

I don't understand why I'm having so many problems with the 1x1 screen, this works for the other monitor sizes but the 1x1 is giving me fits.
@teaminsanity8216
3 жыл бұрын
What types of problems are you having? The 1x1 has the lowest resolution so it can be difficult to display anything meaningful on them. Someone in the Lua chat on the official Discord server should be able to assist you as well.

@@teaminsanity8216 thanks I posted there hopefully will hear back. I did manage to make a simple Fuel display bar with % under it on the 1x1 but I did it by manually specifying the X,Y instead of the math

Hello. Sorry about the radio silence regarding new videos and where we have been. Unfortunately, we do not plan to release any future tutorials for Stormworks. The people behind this channel (CrazyFluffyPony and I (Carsa)) no longer play Stormworks for various reasons. While we are sad we can't continue to help people with these tutorials, seeing the ones that are published continue to help people is uplifting :) If you want some more context as for why we no longer play Stormworks, have a read of these two: lua.flaffipony.rocks (pop-up appears if you haven't visited recently) web.archive.org/web/20210328164102/www.stormworks-forum.rocks/t/the-games-future-and-considering-leaving-the-game/113/5

Isn't clamp "function" kinda redundant when you already have if+logic syntax in your toolbox?
@TormodSteinsholt
3 жыл бұрын
It's a good idea to clamp all values that will passed to drawing algorithms because then they wont cause side effects outside your intended drawing area.
@teaminsanity8216
3 жыл бұрын
Like Tormod said, it is always a good idea to clamp your values when you are going to be drawing to the screen. It is possible your input is an unexpected value and would be drawn incorrectly, potentially covering useful info. Clamping the value ensures it always stays where you want it :)

Hey, Please make some practical tutorials too team, like speedometers, artificial horizon, etc. I wanna be able to build my own artificial horizon displays. I've made some state of the art looking artificial horizon replicas, but the movements are very clunky. Which I believe can be streamlined. So please I hope you do some tutorials on those🍻
@teaminsanity8216

We are considering making some tutorials that cover things like speedometers, radars, artificial horizons, etc. They likely will be in the further future though as our next focus will likely be mission Lua and these tutorials take a LOT of time to produce. In the meantime, lua.flaffipony.rocks/ has some examples that should be able to assist!
