I like how the ring always attracted the ppl who found the wearer weak. Marlo looked at chubs like a weakling, no back bone not willing to kill. Omar looked at Marlo as a weakling, someone afraid to get their hands dirty, while Omar. Walker looked at Omar as a weakling, abusing his self righteousness to rob and steal instead of do good in the community (that cop aint shit and he abuse his power) Michael looked at Walker as a weakling cause he abused his power as a cop hiding behind the law. When Marlo sees the ring again its all round Michael's neck and Marlo cant take that ring because Michael jusr proved he was a worse then all of them combined....

@@tobisoprano6939 BUT In the scene Chris NOTICES it first. Not saying Chris found Michael weak, but he looked at Marlo to see his reaction (Someone he deems strong), Marlo just surprised as Chris was ordered to let him keep it, Chris would have took it from Michael if asked too but Michael was also willing to give the ring. It found a nice owner with Michael. Notice how it's around his neck, almost welcoming all the danger that comes with it on a chokehold. Turned it down cause that's something Marlo does not want anymore and already got a taste of

Marlo's muscle is the result of securing the neglected corners and other territories that Avon and Stringer had abandoned for the Towers. When Avon/Stringer acquired those Towers, it was the beginning of the end for them. Their dealers/soldiers steadily migrated from the exposed corners that had weathered and hardened them in exchange for the more comfortable and secured surroundings of the apartments, where most of the drug transactions took place. Indoor heaters and television replaced natural exposure and outdoor alertness. The Towers, and all the comforts they promised, were considered the prime location for any young hopper in the Barksdale crew to fawn about and strive towards while they suffered the temporary discomforts of the exposed streets. Meanwhile, Marlo and his organization plucked the abandoned or neglected territories one by one, and embraced the natural hardships that came with that ownership. The constant exposure and high risk element of conducting business regularly out in the open, with all the dangers and discomforts associated with it, hardened them. And they never changed from that: Marlo and his lieutenants operated from the open rooftops (not from inside strip bars or pawnshops). In one scene, when Old Face Andre went to meet Marlo at the rooftop he asked Marlo why he preferred to sit out in the cold, and Marlo's response was something like, "I like it. I don't like closed rooms." That discipline trickled down to the rest of the organization, producing finer and more toughened soldiers. Juxtapose that with the more comfortable surroundings preferred by Avon, Stringer, and Joe, and it's easy to see why only Omar presented any serious threat to Marlo.
