Yes I’ve created it from scratch using Blender and image references so I could practice, but there are numerous plugins to pull google map 3d data for you if you don’t want to bother 😂

Hi is this some kind of gradient shader or is the gradient done with lighting? thnx
@kirilbt
Жыл бұрын
Hey :) The lights and shadows are made on blender and then baked to the texture of the scene so I could get this smooth result on the browser. The gradients comes purely from the lighting.

Sure no problem :) For the lighting, it is all done in Blender, I’ve used 3 lights (blue, orange and white) and then baked the textures.

Hey this is dope! Did you use raycasting for the hover effects?
@kirilbt
Жыл бұрын
I didn't use raycasting for the hover effect, I converted the 3D positions into 2D coordinates for each point and assigned it to the html elements (which I learned from one of the Three.js Journey's chapter). I initially wanted to use the raycasting to hide the clickable points depending if there was an other object in front of it, but I didn't manage to make it work with the orthographic camera. I plan to revisit it when I learn a bit more about it!

@@kirilbt hi, I just started learning three js and would appreciate your advice. My project is very similar to yours, I want to make interactive city buildings. Can I ask you which lesson of Three.js Jorney talks about the technique you used to click on objects? Or maybe you can recommend another video lesson. I will be very grateful if you answer

Thanks a lot! As I’m learning both blender and three.js, it took me more than it should.😂 The 3d modeling part was the most difficult for me (I didn’t track the time unfortunately), but for the coding part it was few minutes/hours here in there spread over a week.
