All of these brag videos - and it is absolutely what they are - create unrealistic expectations, not to mention anxiety, for other kids. And what we don't know about this young woman is her level of privilege and how much help she got throughout high school and in prepping for college. She is obviously bright and seems like a nice young woman, but please do not use a student like this as a benchmark for your own high school and college application experience. Everyone is different. Everyone's brains work differently. And, there's literally hundreds of good colleges one can consider and which can prepare students for success.

I don't think she's privileged, she's hard working. These expectations are realistic if you try hard enough

So, congrats. Impressive indeed. The formula for anyone interested is this: All As, plus multiple APs to run the GPA well above 4.5; Perfect or near perfect test scores; Be president of some clubs or organizations; Be a athletic standout and captain; Cure cancer or the like in prestigious summer jobs unavailable to the rank and file; Show some further passion in something or unique life hurdle or work 40 hours a week on top of the foregoing. Your application will then be seriously considered for the few Ivy spots left over each year after a majority of spots are taken by legacy applicants, applicants where a parent donated a building, athletes, and a few other special groups.

I watched this a couple months before my Test and it was so helpful. I only bought the Barron's guide and read through all the chapters and did all the practice tests on there. Ended up with a 790 in Chemistry and 800 on the Math 2 and Physics! So, thanks so much for the tips <3 Edit: I'm an international student so I wrote the June 2021 Subject Tests

hello Mandy! you seemed to have gotten so many awards but the common app only lets you put 5 "honors", so i was wondering what did you do about that? did you just choose your top 5, or if you had more, did you manage to squeeze them in another way?
@MandyMade

This was a question I had too, haha! I ended up including as many awards as possible in my activities section, and I just included my five "biggest" awards in the honors section.

Holy what??? You do not need to worry about your classes at all. You have far exceeded expectations in terms of how rigorous your classes are. I mean 5 AP classes Sophmore year is absolutely ridiculous. Your planned schedule is a lot more impressive than most ivy league applicants I have seen. Most will have like 7-8 AP classes yet you have 14. You also take classes that probably 90% of Ivy League applicants don’t have such as multi variable calculus and linear algebra.
@mysterysecret6815

And one thing, the more AP classes you take, the less of an affect each additional AP class will have so don’t worry about the fact that you are missing a couple AP classes Freshmen year. You have more than enough AP classes for your planned schedule.

Great video!! My name is Andres, it's pleasure to meet you. During my middle school & high school experiences, I did not took any APs, nor honors courses due to my move. I'm a military child, so I moved from state to state at age 5 through 21. I was born in the small town of New York, and I lived there for 5.5 years. Matter of fact, I lived in 5 different states for 2-3 years, Virginia for 6-7 months, and Puerto Rico for a year. I had mostly good grades in middle school for my last 2 years of middle school experiences, but I had some bad grades in my first year of middle school. Once I attended to high school, I started to do better in my grades. However, I was not a valedictorian, but I was a top 8% of my graduation class because I had mostly A's & B's with a C in my elective course. My unweighted high school GPA was a 3.71/4.00, which I graduated in the state of Georgia. I had scored a 12 on my ACT, but I still made it to community college. I've been studying for 5 years. In next spring semester, I will earn my AA degree in general studies from a community college over here in Florida. I have a younger brother that will be graduating from high school on this spring semester. He still improving his grades because he left behind in his assignments. He's doing tutoring to improve his grades. You did a great job with your APs and honors courses because that's very impressive of you were doing. Once I complete my AA degree in general studies, I will be on a BA degree in radio TV and journalism. In this summer, I will attend to a TV school to learn about a job with music and film industry as my career. TV is my dream career. For my TV career, I want to be a actor, singer, broadcast, journalist, film, and author. For my backup plans, I will work in the clothing store, office store, TJ Maxx, and target. Again, great job with your stats video by the way. I will post about my stats video for high school and community college before I graduate from a community college over here in Florida as applying for many universities. It's pleasure to meet you, Amanda. Good luck at university wherever you go. God bless you and your family.

You should definitely skip because if you bubble incorrectly you will lose more points than when you leave them blank. You can leave up 3-4 blank for a perfect 800 score

Hey, my chem subject test is in 2 days, I was wondering do you know how important nomenclature (specifically knowing the formulas given the name and the name given the formula) is on the chem subject test? Oh and also how important was knowing if a given compound was soluble or barely soluble or insoluble? Thank you, this really helps because nomenclature is a lot to memorize
@MandyMade
3 жыл бұрын
Hey! If I remember correctly, solubility rules are pretty important to review for the test. I think nomenclature might also show up, although it probably won't be anything too tricky.
