Thanks for the video. I did this same thing for my old Bobcat S650 a couple years ago. Recently bought a TB260 that looks just like yours (canopy) but with a few more love marks. Currently trying to make it look new again, and may build another lexan screen like this. Any thoughts or advice after building yours? Anything you would change?
@NuDig55
6 ай бұрын
No problem! Nice..was way less costly than other options. Sweet, the TB260 is great!! Love marks are good 😃 Some advice, yeah, I would skip the lower portion in polycarbonate and go with something like steel or aluminum, which ever is less costly. The lower portion just gets kicked by my boots...I left the plastic protection film on the poly and it doesn't look that great. Another piece of advice, spend extra for the double sided Abrasion Resistant. I find myself wanting to clean the surface but not wanting to scratch the plastic. I would also cover the plastic when not in use...essentially keep away from the sun, unless you also get UV resistant.
@andrewr2147
6 ай бұрын
@@NuDig55 Yeah, I was thinking I may skip the bottom part altogether. Could extend the top piece another inch or two, but I think that would provide 95% of the coverage which is 1000% better than nothing. Naturally it will get scratched, so I'm not worried about scratches or fading. If it got to the point that it was annoying, I would just replace it. I don't even have a mulcher for the excavator, but I had a decent chunk of wood fly by my head when I was breaking some branches, so I think this is a good idea even without a mulcher! Held up well! Has been covered when not in use which helps keep it from getting UV damaged. It has taken some direct hits from wood that has been flung from the disc mulcher and hasn't cracked, dented, or otherwise damaged the poly. I will say that since I didn't get the MR coating I do notice some very faint lines on the surface when I look closely. I don't notice them when sitting on the seat. I left the poly on the excavator this last transport from jobsite back to the yard, ~70 highway miles, and didn't notice any deformation or damage to the poly.

Thank you! Tak + Mulcher = getting stuff done! Great combo! Yes, mostly pine trees and pine tree tops. I can say that the weight of the material you're mulching plays a huge part in how it reacts to the disc. The disc at operating speed will throw lighter weight material everywhere and yes, back at the cab, regardless of angle of disc. Conversely, heavier material will stay in place until it becomes lighter and then will be flung. This mulcher prefers mulching a standing tree or brush. Haven't really had an opportunity to mulch material into soft ground since I have only worked with this combo in granite. Hope this helps.

@NuDig55
Жыл бұрын
Good question. The case drain is intended to act as an un-pressurized conduit from any hydraulic motor mounted at the end of the stick back to the equipment's hydraulic tank. Hydraulic motors, depending on type, will have hydraulic oil blow past the "cylinder" and end up in the case of the hydraulic motor. This conduit is intended to allow for a path back to the tank rather than get "stuck" in the motor and cause failure.

@NuDig55

Hi Timberdoodles! I wondered about that method as well. I have tried mulching a tree that was cut down and resting on a pile of other trees/brush and did fine. The area I work in is littered with granite boulders and keeps me from mulching directly on ground. I will say that the mass of the tree impacts the mulching performance. This spring I will do some testing and post a video. Great question!

Is that a 12000 lb matching. Wondering how the 36” would work on on my cat 305
@NuDig55
Жыл бұрын
About that...around 12300 without the mulcher head. A couple things to consider, the mulcher has some weight to it...suspect around 800-1000 lbs. Take a look at the Cat 305 charts to see if it's rated for that kinda weight over the front and side. I know that with my TB260, which is more of a conventional tail swing, reaching out as far as it will reach to the side, I can mulch but I shouldn't make a sudden movements cause the back of machine will pick up enough to cause the head to lower...just something to consider. Another thing is the flow rate. Not certain what the Cat 305 is rated for but the TB260 high flow setting of 27gpm works well with this mulcher for any pine 6"-. Anything larger than that and I have to lift off of the cut and let the head spool up for another hit or I have to slowly lower the disc onto the tree. I know that RutMfg will size the hydraulic motor to your unit which should ensure it will work as efficiently as possible. I have more videos coming of this combo in action, stay tuned! Hope this helps!

Since I live in Quebec, I added a homemade cab, in order to at least cut myself off from the freezing wind in winter. Before cutting the polycarbonate, I had cut the pieces out of a half-inch plywood which I then used as a template for the final polycarbonate cuts. I preferred being able to adjust my cuts on affordable plywood rather than the much more expensive polycarbonate sheets.
