If you do further research it seems there was rumor of an issue related to one of the user barrel/caliber switching models. CZ seems to be extremely proactive. Having used CZ rifles over my entire life, I imagine they are being extremely cautious. Dollar for dollar, CZ's are usually a better value than most American brands. The CZ 600 Lux is an incredibly good value for around $900. Wood stocks and iron sights generally will add hundreds to the price of a rifle. I am 99% sure most CZ rifles are absolutely fine, and things will swing back into form. That being said, competition is stiff, and this is a golden age of bolt action rifles. Winchester's rifles are nicer than they have ever been and Bergara's are amazing value for the price. CZ has a very long reputation of making quality firearms, and I trust they will work hard to maintain that reputation.

Have you shot the rifle? There's a reason why CZs have had, for many decades, such a stellar reputation. Although I don't dismiss the possibility of a lemon or a design feature which SOME users may not admire. The recall concerns a possible failure resulting from an improperly installed barrel by the user; that was originally designed as a user benefit. Because of this possibility, CZ will no longer produce rifles having that option for the user. I don't like the wooden bolt handle knob. But not having used one, I can't RELIABLY judge its durability. There'll likely be after-market metal knobs available soon. Try an older model CZ if this one disappoints.

The aluminum actions are a lot smoother for the 600 compared to the steel ones and the older 527s had nice actions. None are smoother than a Tikka T3x (I personally recommend). Nice looking rifle, but my another concern besides recall is - spare magazines simply not available at this time in US... On their European site they listed at 65 euros... on my opinion - way to much for simple plastic magazine. Magazine can be lost or broken, and may become rare or unavailable over time, so I would prefer to have at lest several spares. Few years ago I really wanted CZ-550 and the only one thing stopped me is expensive proprietary magazine that cost almost like a used Mosin-Nagant. If you want several spare mags that almost doubles cost of rifle. CZ-600 also has proprietary magazine that is not even available at all. I have several CZ pistols and CZ-527 in 7.62x39 and love them all, but I don't understand their marketing regarding spare rifle magazines. If their magazines was reasonably priced and available I would have 550 for sure and would jump on 600 right away! So far all my rifles have detachable mags, no exceptions.
