I remember a DeLinda Pearson, cattery name Rhamjoge, who won best cat with 'Better Believe It' at the CFA International Show in Indianapolis circa 2011. She appeared sorta outa nowhere, won the big show and then disappeared... and left me rather curious... though of course, lots of people have similar/same names... 🤔 oh wait, petersen - not pearson ✅

The problem with flat faced cats is that one has to wipe the eye stains at least 2 x a day (every day) and usually it requires washing and powdering as well. Don't get a flat faced cat.
@DougguoD
Ай бұрын
They are a LOT of work, yes 🧼 When asked, I recommend Zots (Exotics as they're called) because, while retaining the Persian flat face look, they don't have that high maintenance coat to deal with on top of the rest. And yes, I know that isn't your point - but I don't care 😁

People: Animals are not thin or fat because of the amount of food they are fed. Siamese are bred to be lean and very thin - even when they eat a lot. PLUS - most Siamese are shown when very young (7 mo to a year) because they darken and bulk up with age. If you don't like the modern show Siamese, don't get one. NEWS FLASH - there are other cats you can get.
@DougguoD
2 ай бұрын
Yeah, this is an attack vector for some - the apparent thinness of Siamese. I have seen cats that really were emaciated (and no, not mine oh AR fans 😁) and they look/act quite differently from the usual show Siamese. There are a number of slender breeds, Cornish Rex come to mind. And on the news flash, AR hates breeds regardless, so no joy to be had there 🤷🏻♂ Course whoever may not be AR, in which case, yes they can just move on (which seems a REALLY hard thing for social media types to do 🙄).

They also had "pet me" cats, breed ambassadors that were not competing in the show for the spectators to come to meet. As part of our "collection" at home we had a former Somali National Winner as a pet that had been attached to me at the hip for the 6 years we'd had him at that point (had him for 13 years total--miss him every day); 2 of the Pet Me cats were the 2 Somalis that had Nationaled since my Max. Both completely regal creatures who knew how beautiful they were; you should have seen the way their people looked at me when I told them "Oh, yeah, I've had Mittsnpaws Miromax as a house pet ever since he retired." There are pictures of all 3 of them on the Somali Breed Council website National Winners page.

I was at that show was a spectator--1000 cats!! I was mostly out in the benching area, visiting briefly with exhibitors that I knew and looking around at breeds I wanted to know more about or at those that are so rare that I had never actually seen cats of those breeds before.

These Internationals were really BIG shows, which is exactly why I vided so many of them - so many cats and breeds in one place and usually with decent lighting (which matters a lot for viding). I seldom visited the benches (or any other area) 'cause viding, though there were some special occasions like visiting a bit with Scrimshaw Seance of Amara 😊

Fast forward a few years; the Cincinnati Cat Club was having their annual show at a venue very close to my then-home nearby. I walked in and noticed a very dark cat in a judging cage in a ring by herself; looked 2 or 3 times, blinked, and thought "There is nooo wayyyy...." Turned out she was indeed not only a very high-grade black smoke Turkish Angora (she finished that year as National 3rd Best of Breed) but she was the granddaughter of that same blue-eyed white Jack Frost that I had met in Columbus.
@DougguoD

For some reason, not Persian black smokes initially surprised me 👀 There's some shorthair breed (not remembering which right now) where the color even looked common/regular/unsurprising... 🤔
@marysanders9461
2 ай бұрын
@@DougguoD Black Smokes will look different depending on the length and texture of their coats and how well those white roots show when the cat is moving, which is part of the definition of "smoke". Actually a cat of any color can be a smoke as long as it has those white roots under the other color(s). The Felis Gallery KZitem channel is done by a photographer that has a big houseful of colorful and intriguing Maine Coons including multiple black smokes. In some of his videos that show them walking you can see how the coat sort of flows as they move, especially on their fantastic tails, very well showing the white roots under the black. Check them out.

Overjoyed to see an Etonnant cat. I was able to attend the 2012 show in Columbus, OH; there I met the lovely woman who is part of the couple who owns Etonnant and was able to meet their Jack Frost whom they acquired from another cattery that brought his being a walking Turkish Angora breed standard into their bloodlines. Love that breed; had a gorgeous little black smoke that was strictly from pet lines but was all goofy TA personality--miss her every day.

I had a beautiful Ocicat, he lived 15 years & 7 months. He was very smart. He used the toilet, learned by following me around, he flushed the toilet for himself, he'd press the toaster latch when I'd be making my breakfast to toast my bread, he'd turn the lights off in the birds room @ 9pm every night. He just enjoyed doing my chores & helping me out. I miss him. I have an Asian Bengal Leopard now who'll be 15 in March. Once she passes away, I'll either get an Ocicat again or a Bengal. I love cats❤😺

I've removed a LOT of audio noise. Crowds of people are just LOUD. Been in restaurants where there was ROARING crowd noise, like YIKES!! I think it's less apparent when we're part of a crowd 'cause we somehow block it out. Recording audio with out those human filters just makes it more obvious 🤷🏽♂

Read just recently, in the USofA, pets have been legally determined to be not property. Dunno what that means as to who is legally responsible for them, like who feeds them and such. Saying pet parents would be laying it on a bit thick, though that is a thing - though yeah, there's always feraldom with coyotes as neighbours 😼

@@dooglec8586 Don't remember that at all 👀 Which one? And yes, when a cat decides they've had quite enough (mainly 'cause surrounded by other cats) they do sometimes try to massacre any handy judge. "OWNER!!!!" is usually the judge's attempt (sometimes sounding a bit desperate, yes) to get the exhibitor to come calm down the cat and "escort" said cat back to the benching area.
