Bought one in 4 inch when they first came out in 81. A couple weeks ago I found a 6 inch no dash at my local shop a guy brought in to sell. It's absolutely perfect. These are the best .357 wheel guns ever.

You sound fairly young. I am fairly old. I say that to give credence to the following. I've tried 'em all. I love the 1911 but it is difficult to daily carry. 9mm? I have had and carried many. A 9 is heavy with all the rounds it holds. I kept only one to use at annual qualification because it seems all timed courses limit time in reloading. Autos are faster to reload but I've never heard of a self defense occurence when a reload was neccessary. 380s have insufficient power, no matter what we hear. My Ruger 380 is not very much use beyond 10 yards. It's just me, but I need to know i can hit a man or rouge dog or whatever at longer distance, 15 to 25 yards. A .357 i8 is shorter than 2 inches. Not much, but that bothers me. So for the last several years Ive carried a Colt Cobra, a 2"gun I found unfired at a gun show in the box. It only weighs 14 oz. and holds six. It is infinintly more powerful than a 380. After much research I learned the very best 38 ammo is the 125 grain jhp from Remington's Golden Saber. Having spent 34 years as a trooper, I know a .38 is a viable self defense weapon even in the 2" barrel. Plenty of penetration and expansion. If i can buy another handgun it will be the Taurus 856 UL with a 3" barrel. Thank you for your video. You provide more real world commonsense than the many experts on the Net. Take care, sir.

It is plain Jane I suggest you replace the spring with a Wilson Combat 13 dollars is the best upgrade you'll do all so KSD grips are very good and you can change the front sight with fiber also Galco in my opinion very good holster. One more thing wheel release you can add from the KTC extended version This way you can make it a very sexy-looking gun

I recently bought a Rossi RM64. It looks exactly like your 971, except for rubber grips. I took my grips off and "971" is stamped on the frame. I can't be sure that every part is the same, but my guess is that they just renamed it after the 971 and other Rossi's were recalled a few years ago. I like my RM 64 too!

Had to come back so I did finally get a 6” no dash 586 just like your specimen. And I’m so happy to have it like really happy. But guess what has happened……. I learned about a revolver that’s fairly BA the 627 V Comp gosh they aren’t even lying about this hobby becoming a addiction. I thought yes I have the normal man’s big 3 it’s finally done. Then I learned about that damed V Comp. Now I have 1 issue with the V Comp the STUPID hammer lock. With that said there is absolutely nothing I can do about that besides not buying it. But that’s not gonna happen the revolver is special in my opinion. I must have it in my collection

the proper speed loader for the 856 is the HKS 10 or 10A for the S&W K frame or the DS or the colt detective special , both work equally well. the safariland speed loaders for the S&W k frame or the colt detective special should work as well but i have not confirmed this

Why do you feel you have to replace it when you have fired it up to 700 time's and had no problems with it. But I do want to know is't to as why you feel the need to fired it up to 700 time's are you that bad of a shot, think of the cost of those 700 rounds and think about it that's 700 people's lives you could have taken that's excessive amount and besides most attacker's are within 30 feet from you, do you need to practice that much.

reliable. easily customized with your preferred ammo and grips. simple & intuitive manual of arms. only $300ish. lifetime warranty. buyable in every state. 6 rounds is enough for normal, lawabiding civilians for protection, if you need more carry a rifle or shotgun, or dont be there. a taurus 856 with hogue monogrips and 158gr lead round nose ammo is my bedside piece. old school is good school.
