More needs to be done to recognise those Royal Marines that fought a battle with the Argentines. The scandal is that they were not decorated. Second that there were many more Argentines killed than what the Argentines stated.

My problem with Jim Fairfield's story is that British Military Historian Martin Middlebrook in his book 'Operation Corporate: The Falklands War, 1982' (Viking, 1985) makes no mention of Argie troops defecating in the houses of Stanley and he visited and interviewed several of the Falklanders for his book. Also no metion of this is made in Graham Bound's book 'Falkland Islanders at War' (Pen & Sword, 2006) that details the experiences of the Falklanders in Port Stanley, Goose Green and elsewhere during the Argentinian occupation.

Middlebrook could only write with the Argentine Army's permission after they edited it, and Bound left the Falklands on April 12th so probably didn't see or experience it.

This is such a great narrative of the war, from beginning to end. Probably one of the best around. A great story.

Unlike dishonest political leaders, admirals, generals and historians, these guys on the front line on both sides cannot be criticised. That's what I concentrate on. Because that's the path of truth. Everything else - like the dubious, settled narrative that so many who weren't there push and push - is diversionary spume and bollocks.

I was only 12 during the Falkland island war. My father was a reporter for NZBC and when they said in the English papers that the Royal Marines surrendered without firing a shot. My father said. I think that’s the biggest load of shit that I have read. If they had.. then where are all the weapons that they would be showing off? I no idea what he meant until the surrender of the Argentines. Piles and piles of weapons. See he said spoils of war. There were no massive caches of ordinance. Because they used them. I served as an officer in the RNZAF and met some Royal Marines. They said they were told not to speak.. it made sense when I read first casualty. My Dad was right. You all deserve much more.

I'm here because of the book 'The first casualty'. Excellent stuff, and scandalous that these men have been cheated this way. They most assuredly deserve all the medals that they were put forward for. Bloody politicians...

Watched this video on recommendation from Ricky Phillips in his book which I’ve just finished reading . Brilliant book on an amazing bunch of guys . Hats off to Jim and everyone else involved the day of the invasion . I was a young teenager at the time but even I knew that these guys had had I real crack at the Argentinians and I knew way back then that a professional British soldier wouldn’t back down and roll over .

At last, the truth will out..... Thank you Mr Fairfield, for your service in defence of British soil. There's little enough pride left here in Britain, due to certain cultural changes - & now the traitorous May, with her Brexit 'surrender'.... Gus, London.

In 1833, when Britain invaded Malvinas Islands, and took them from Argentina, there were no radio.
You should read carefully that UN Res: "6. Any attempt aimed at the partial or total disruption of the national unity and the territorial integrity of a country is incompatible with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations." UK invaded Islas Malvinas in 1833 and expelled the population and the argentine governor. Since that moment Argentina never ceased its claim and will never do. You are the colonial habitants that broght UK to colonice the Argentina Malvinas Islands.

And no indignant population to say who they wanted in control. Nobody could talk to the penguins so no opposition to the sailors.
