These tracks make my house shake, and I live about a mile away. I live by the Netherton canal tunnel, and the vibration gets transferred through the water of the canal which is next to the track, the vibration echo in the tunnel one mile or so away which runs at 90° to the tracks on an off shoot of the canal system which goes from Tipton under a hill to Netherton, and I can feel the house shake, more the floor, and hear the sound of a train if I listen with a glass to a downstairs door frame. That's bonkers, isn't it, but true.

Noticed the colour light signals seem to have the green as the bottom lamp. Thought it should be the red one , more in line with driver's sight. Or is the lower lamp a dual colour one?

its the new design they've been rolling out everywhere - they're LED. The bottom aperture does danger, caution and clear, while the top is for advanced caution.

I grew up in Wolverhampton, in the 1950s. We had a High-level station (LMS) and a Low-level station (GWR). Wolverhampton was a lovely ramshackle higgledy-piggledy kind of a place. What ruined Wolverhampton was third-world immigration. Nobody wanted it ... ... ... yet it happened.

I got reported by a passenger at Birmingham who got on my train at Wolverhampton back in the 80s for driving at a dangerous speed in thick mist she said she would never allow her husband to drive his car more than 20mph and she stated i was going way over that 🤣

New Irish subscriber here in Manchester U.K. (Living here 21 years) - I usually go home to Ireland on SailRail via Holyhead - Dublin but I just wish there were more direct trains from Manchester Victoria to Holyhead without having to change trains at Crewe or Chester, as Platform 13 at Manchester Piccadilly is a real pain, especially if coming from Shudehill or Market St on Metrolink trams, having to climb all those escalators and stairs with a heavy suitcase, getting tickets and information at the other end then having to come all the way back, then up 2 travelators and down stairs to reach Platform 13 - most of these trains, even if Chester/Crewe bound, don’t even call at Deansgate/Castlefield which means a much more convenient transfer from Metrolink which I’ve written to TfW and Avanti about - the only possible workaround seems to be Northern from Victoria to Chester and Avanti from Chester to Holyhead so that I’ll make my check-in for Irish Ferries or Stena to Dublin in good time

Many thanks for doing this and posting it - cab rides are always great to see - but hard to shoot cos of various things like massive light level changes, avoiding times when you're be facing into the sun, problems with rain etc,. This is nice and as the sun gets lower on this run we see some lovely colour glints come into it. Many thanks.

I remember getting a cabride from rugby to Polesworth in the early 80s on a 304. I lived there at the time and the trains actually used to stop there then😁. I used to get a day rover called a trent tripper for 75p.

Great route. Again though, it points out the importance of HS2. Both to help open up slots on this busy stretch, but also to create a true high speed railway designed to go from London to Birmingham and Manchester. The more I watch of the so called West Coast mainline, I just see trains capable of running at well over 100mph restricted to trundling along track with a speed limit way below that. Even the class 350 can’t get over 75mph along this stretch.

the billions spent on HS2 if you invested into the WCML you could have what BR were aiming to do until government interference stopped them from achieving 140mph on the mainline.... the Pendos were designed and built for 140mph because it was promised from BR then Railtrack but never happened due to our government ministers getting involved... Look at what kind of railway we could of have... Brinklow which is North of Rugby towards Coventry and the trent valley via Tamworth is a known bottle neck because four lines goes into three and routinely causes jams.... instead of fixing the problem they want to waste our taxpayers money on a heap of junk.... It's like a person having issues with a house but instead of fixing the problem building a new house.... It's bizarre until you realise who are their real paymasters

Josh nothing is more important than passenger safety . If you have made them aware of serious failings & they still don’t improve . Then they will pay the heavy price in the courts . So surely it’s in their best interests . To act upon your findings & videos .

Is 110mph the top speed of the 350, or is it the infrastructure that only allows that speed, as some of the pendelinos go faster
@lifeisgood3386

Pendos have tilting so they can go faster class 350 has a line speed of 110 mph on the west coast main line pendos are 125 if not faster on there i have been on both .

pendelinos are limited to 125 cl350 110 due to passengers sitting directly behind the cab something to do with crash survivability
