It’s crazy how hard Brewster tried trolling Howard. With the smudge on the glass of water, making the fish look undercooked….. And still got beat

Alan Alda did a spectacular job portraying Senator Brewster. That guy was apparently a sleezebucket who tried to get over on Mr. Hughes but got destroyed. Btw, $170k from 1947 is roughly $2.4 million today

Howard Hughes was ahead of his time in so many ways. And the Senate Hearings he exposed just how corrupt US public officials were. They are even worse today. Howard Hughes, a tower amount Giants.

That scumbag senator severely underestimated him and ended up paying for it. I just love how this portrayal of Howard Hughes masterfully picked that son of a bitch apart, while the civilized world was watching. Moral of the story, don't fuck with a brilliant and fiercely determined businessman. Especially if they happen to be from Texas. 💯

0:56 very difficult to catch but if you pause at just the right moment for one frame you can see the shot is in black and white and with the camera flash Hughes is seen with his skeletal structure. To catch the skeletal structure you’ll have to slow the playback speed down to 0.25

Brewster should have known better. Hughes rose to his taunts during lunch earlier in the film. It's clear he's able to push down his mental health struggles when he wants to. Picking a fight with him in public was a terrible idea. If you listen to the recordings of this hearing he's even more brutal than this. He flat out tells everyone that Brewster was too weak to take it in Washington and went back home, leaving his colleagues to clean up his mess. After the hearing he also worked hard to make sure that Brewster didn't get re-elected. He was successful in undermining his political career and ousting him from office which I think his hilarious.
