Great manager ,great record but at Leeds ,insulting the players and then expecting them to give 100% for him in training and games . Wrong man ,wrong club ,wrong time .

It's the same old story. The young manager comes in with new and different ideas, which the old guard refuses to accept it. _My/The_ old way worked, so you should've done exactly what I did. Knowing full well that it was impossible to do.

Peter Taylor indeed had a brilliant eye for a player but without him and without any money in the pot, Clough kept Forest up for another eleven years. Those years included three top-three league finishes (before 1993 they were never out of the top ten), two League Cup wins, an FA Cup final, and getting cheated out of a UEFA Cup final appearance (1984). Even if he had done nothing else previously, Clough would still be remembered as a top manager.

Not only did Johnny Giles enjoy a legal victory v. the David Peace book but Dave Mackay also enjoyed one v. the film version. As a Hollywood lawyer called Fred Leopold used to say, "If you have real people as characters they can have lattes and muffins but they can't say, 'Let's go for a f**k in the bushes'."

Revie won this rumble in the Yorkshire jungle. Mitchell should have thrown in the towel when Clough was nailed over the inane lack of an introductory meeting at Leeds. But Clough had been on the champers all day. This interview is overrated.

Great character is Brian, and great presence.....but hes a fool.....to say in one breath he believes in God, then say he believes God is "She" is not taking Gods word at his word. Hes just going on in life feeling, and not thinking. Also that violin group...listen to star trek the motion picture soundtrack theme.

I remember watching this when it first screened and thinking how 'opposite' to one another Brian Clough and Don Revie appeared during this interview. Watching it now, I can't help but notice that Brian actually had a great deal of respect for Don. He obviously saw him as the big cheese amongst managers at the time and he desperately wanted to emulate or better what Revie had achieved. There was something cartoonish about his attitude not just to Revie at this time but to all other managers which was part of his style but sometimes over the top. It was only when he stopped being a TV Celebrity and he concentrated on being a football manager with Peter Taylor again that he achieved the same sort of accolades that Revie had at Leeds.

Very true. Brian Clough had respect for Don Revie's achievements. Something happened in a previous fixture that Clough never forgot or got over. But the sack and the experience at Brighton was sobering for him. In his own words he matured after that and came back as a supreme manager and definitely surpassed Don's achievements. Clough would only have succeeded at Leeds had he had chance to clear the lot out and rebuild but that was never going to happen

A concept we call tree can lose many many branches and the tree doesn’t die. Yet if it does not have rain or sunshine the tree will surely die. If a tree doesn’t have (air) carbon dioxide),or minerals from the earth, again the tree will die, and if the tree is pulled from the earth, the concept we call tree will surely die. So What’s more tree ?? The Branches ? Or perhaps it’s rain, sunshine, earth, or minerals, the air ??? It’s a dream that what we call separateness, the tree is whole universe coming together to manifest tree, and also what you call you. Nothing is born or dies, manifestation is impermanent ever existing and changing, all forms are empty of an individual self, emptiness manifests form there is no individual.

They lost a UEFA Cup semifinal against Anderlecht, and that was proved to be a game where the referee was bribed. Derby also lost a semifinal against Juventus in dubious circumstances. Again, Juventus were found to have bribed the German referee who died in a car crash shortly after. There was a feeling in the English game at the time that European clubs and officials were agains our sides winning mainly for many reasons.
