I ended up replacing the airbag control module to get an accurate code from the light, then replacing the center front crash sensor to finally turn the light off. The airbag light is flashing a code, that you can use to determine what has gone wrong. Plenty of online information on what each code is, and how to read them. Highly recommend purchasing the FoMoCo shop manual in order to best solve all problems the Capri will inevitably have, lol.

I bought this car as first car in 2003.. i loved it so much.. to make it look good you HAVE to lower it and put wider rims on it.. also its very easy to paint the dashboard any colors you want :) i used to color them in the parking lots with friends :)) .. its a toy car don't expect more than that.. also if you put performance exhaust you will notice that its faster than stock :))

Aussie made car. You guys got the shit mercury. You obviously havent look after it. The red roof is ugly as fuck. I dont blame you hating the mercury. I have 3 which are called Capris & they are awesome. Looks like Ford sent the U.S its rubbish it swept off the factory floor. Soft tops are very good if they are looked after. This car is a shitbox & should not be used to review Ford Capri's
@bjgamertv3883
3 жыл бұрын
Did you even watch the review? It is a carpi, it is Australian. I pointed both out. I don't hate it either, and despite what you think. Your European Capri was had by us in the 1970s, and we made our own in the 80s. This is also my first car and just ragging on it is about as useful as kicking a wounded dog. I live in Ohio, meaning this car has rust, and has seen a hard life. Since this video over 2 years ago, this car has received a new soft top, still leaks (all capris practically leaked from the factory.) The hard top got painted white later to match the car. Yes, its a shitbox, but its also decently well kept, and a decent representation of what these cars look like after 30 years. I also like the way this car looks, as do many other 3rd gen capri owners. Its quirky, and a reflection of one of a few aussie cars imported to the US. I would kindly like you to concider what you have commented in the context provided.

How do you know it`s slow? You have never driven the car. I t was faster than the Miata of the same year. Most of the turbo cars had automatic transmissions in them. They needed the turbo to haul around the heavy transmission. It was faster than the Lotus Elan of the same year. In fact Lotus which was part of ford for awhile designed their car after this FWD concept. A true sports car made by ford. I`m sure it`s the only real sports car ever made by ford. Let me put it this way. It`s the only ford that goes left and right without falling off the road past sixty.

A few comments on your post. 1. I know its slow because I've ridden in it, with it being foot to the floor. After driving it, I realize its still slow, even compared to the 05' Excursion we have. 2. My car doesn't have the turbo engine, and besides that, ALL of the XR2 Capri's came with an upgraded 5 speed transmission. Ford never offered an automatic for the XR2 Capri. 3. I have never heard of Lotus doing anything with Ford past the 1980s 4. The Capri does handle very well, especially on a good set of tires. 5. I know your exaggerating to make your point, however, Ford has made a few sports cars, that handle better, and go faster, than this car. The Ford GT, the Merkur XR4TI, the many RS cars of the 70s and 80s.

@@bjgamertv3883 Do more research on on the xr2. They were all automatic. You had to special order one to get a five speed manual. There are cars that will go faster in a straight line. But not many will go left and right without falling off the road. Any fool can spend a million dollars for a race car. Better hitch a fuel tanker behind your gas guzzling Mustang.

@@darrelpetrie8793 I will politely tell you to research more. All XR2 models came with 5 speeds. Here's the original 1991 Ford brochure for the car, if you look under transmission, you can clearly see that it states the Automatic was N/A on the XR2. img.hmn.com/900x675/stories/2014/12/122.jpg

@@bjgamertv3883 Then why do 95% of all for sale have an automatic transmission? Maybe your looking at an AUSTRALIAN brochure? Everyone I`ve seen for sale here in the US is automatic. Many were modified.
@bjgamertv3883
4 жыл бұрын
@@darrelpetrie8793 All of the automatics for sale are base models, you know you have an XR2 via the turbo boost gauge, rear spoiler, and the manual transmission. I have seen a Capri with a body kit for sale, and it looked like an XR2, but was not, because it didn't have a boost gauge. If you insist that there are automatic xr2s, send me proof. Also, there was little deviation between the Australian and NA versions of the car because all Capris were built inside of Melbourne, Australia

Nothing you listed as a "quirk" is a quirk. Door dinger? That was the dinger of the time. Huge bumpers? That was the 90's, early safety standards. The window locks? We still have those. It's for child safety. The power lock/unlock was actually a rare feature for that generation of cars. To date, they still only do it on the drivers door. The whole point being the driver can just unlock his door, or unlock entire car. You've got a lot to learn about cars my friend.
@bjgamertv3883

Thanks for the criticism! I was doing the quirks from the perspective of someone from today, because if you were to just step into the car, having no prior knowledge, it would be a quirky, weird car. As for my knowledge of cars, I know a lot more than most people. This might not count in your book as knowledge of cars, but the car I reviewed, I have since taken the head off, had the head reworked, and put back together, plus chased many electrical gremlins of the car. I'm sorry if this comes off as rude, but I felt I had to explain myself
