I remember this sound growing up. R and U Models everywhere smoking up everything. Cats and Macks always had an aggressive sound to them.

I don't think folks get that Mack rated their engines at the wheels, not at the flywheel. So a 237 was more like 300hp.

You are like my Dad, as a little girl I would be in the thermodyne; b-61 while Dad would go get a bulldozer " Dad only had Caterpillars, The best he could buy. My Dad would go get his old cable dozer and loaded it. Those gear shifts would be moving and making grinding noise's. I was scared the Truck would take off with me in it . He had a old lowboy that he would use back then. I never told my Dad about being scared. He would have been disappointed in his girl. I got a whipping on the d8 one day. I thought we were going to go straight through the horse fence. I was little, but I hold all my time with my Dad and the Macks very dear. In 1978 I turned 21 and had my own Dm600 dump truck. I was raised in the shop and loved everyone that worked for us in my heart like family. I was taught every safe possible way in the truck. I loved seeing the black smoke as my truck was climbing out of the sand pit. She was pulling like the dog should, always. Dad passed away in 1985, the happy days were gone . My truck still sits proudly at our farm, so does my 46 Willy's jeep. Dad gave it to me. I still prefer trucks and all the Tomboy stuff. I am 67 now. Dad's last new truck was a 1977 Superliner. God, she was tough! When Dad was away I always got to drive her home, only if the lowboy was empty. I miss those days so much!❤🥸💥😈😈🤓🕔
