If you’re hauling an AWD vehicle which can’t be towed while any of its wheels are on the ground, you’d use this dolly in the back like they just did it, after you drive the front end up on a dolly towed by your camper or truck. I have an AWD Mitsubishi and you either have to flatbed it or lift the way I just said. Otherwise you’ll destroy its drive train. I was a repo man and had to steal a Subaru Outback. I had a key but they blocked it in with a station wagon. It was winter with snow and ice on the ground, which came in handy when I used the back bumper to push that wagon out of the way and took off down the road with the Outback. Once I had it up on the repo truck, a first generation Dynamic model, I strapped down the front tires and then crawled up underneath it and took all 9, 9.5mm nuts & bolts off of the rear drive shaft and lowered it into the tray made to hold it, in just this sort of towing. Unless Specifically stated in the manual that you can tow it and how with two wheels still on the ground.... DON’T !! Just saying. Read the Owner’s Manual.

if you wish to save two step here how you can do it ! the tractor have air bag if yes lower the airbag before lowering the trailer after you do the usual steps to disconnect it is a the move forward one foot part that changes so basically put the air back in the airbag . there you save one step ... to reconnect you lower your airbags one foot before the trailer and do like you do normally

I’ve been towing for over 2 years and never strapped tires to dollies. The first time I ever did, a strap came undone and shifted the the dollie. Had to pull over and redo the whole thing. The weight of the vehicle will hold the car on the dollies. I’ve also done 70mph on dollies. Even tho it’s not recommended, it can be done as long as you keep the motor side off the dollies and are towing a light vehicle (Honda civic for example)

I’ve never had to and seen anybody get in an out of the cab numerous times to disconnect or reconnect a lowboy trailer, and seeing that procedure on dropping the trailer, pulling forward a little then raising the neck before pulling further, I’ve never seen that before unless the frame of that tractor doesn’t have a skid to keep the neck from touching the ground.

Between the seatbelt rule and glove rule and that cheesey international with the automatic it's a wonder anything gets done. The military really should look at private industry a little more and maybe incorporate some better techniques.

Two people not required to lower wheel dollies. Pros and cons to that idea. Placing a strap though the rim and tightening down to secure the vehicle to the wheel dollies bends the dollie axle ends and deforms the frame pockets. Wheel can still rotate out from the dollie axle. This leads to dollie axle failure and mega damage to the towed vehicle! I've seem this result a couple times.

Only if you use the breaker bar to tighten the strap ratchets down. This is never necessary-hand strength is quite enough. The straps are only to retain the dollies beneath the vehicle in the event of hitting potholes/uneven terrain. Vehicle weight does the rest.

If you have two experienced people on the tools, what does it matter when it comes to raising or lowering? I think the example that was being shown was pretty good
@curtishassell3200

Great video guys, very detailed and comprehensive. Note: The third lift was done with the Safety Lock engaged over the Trip Handle, causing it to bend. This changed the angle relationship of the trip foot to the spindle, potentially allowing the spindle to release, while in tow, and the dolly to drop on that end It's an easy fix though. Remove the Trip Spring and just slide a short length of pipe over the handle, and bend it back straight and level, to match the other Trip Handles. That will restore the correct angle relationship.

Curtis Hassell the safety lock moves up and down with this dolly so no damage was done. But we definitely should have moved it before latching. Good catch!
