These low budget made for TV mini travel logs remain some of the best content ever produced and Huell was a pioneer in what would become podcasting. Anyone who thinks this is a recent phenomenon should research the man that invented it!!

I have a feeling a Native American made the arrow on the mountain to point to the hot springs to let other Native Americans know it was there or to simply make a marker in order to find it again. Kinda like a big road sign

From 40th ave, I hiked up the creek bed all the way up to the steam caves right under the hotel. The water was extremely hot. It was a hard hike, but I remember it well many decades since.

Yellowstone has hotter springs and geysers. The hotel was remarked for having the hottest “recreational” springs.

It’s been bought by San Manuel Indian tribe...... they plan on using it to build homes and schools they need since they are running out of space on their current land, the county wants to retain the hotel though as a landmark or museum. The tribe said it’ll be awhile before they announce anything. That was 2014/2016!

As of Nov 2023. It’s all just words. I did hear from an employee who works there with good information, San Manuel, whenever they decide it’s important to them will restore the hotel but for their use only. That’s probably why it doesn’t seem to be happening. So if you are hoping to visit it in any real way, put those dreams to rest. 23 years ago it was pristine. In such a short time it’s gone to hell.
