Another bitter loss for Rublev. Fighting off multiple break points and then losing the breaker. Gil Gross presented an interesting graph on how Rune is the most overperforming player in tiebreaks while Rublev is the most underperforming.

Nakashima is one of the many American losers. About Rublev is something psychological, he gets too stressed not to get his points quickly, which leads him to make many forced errors. The only mentally sane Russian is Medvedev, the rest send them down the drain because they don't achieve anything at all. Btw, Nakashima will be defeated in the next round, period. IMHO!

I like Rublev a lot because he wears his heart on his sleeve but the racket smashing combined with that cold handshake to one of the quietest/nicest guys on tour was disappointing.

great highlights: key pts give a real sense of the match, w/o wasting time on crowd and changeovers etc. bravo and thank you.

I wonder how the war in Ukraine is affecting these Russian players. Imagine knowing that over 200 thousand Russian soldiers are dead and counting in a senseless war, and the insane suffering that Russia has brought to Ukraine. Russia is heading for economic ruin, and Russians are now looked upon as pariahs all over the world and all because of a coward psycho war criminal putin . Wonder how this weighs on the psych of Russian players. It must be frustrating also, not to be able to say anything because you risk jail and put your relatives in danger. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think these players have to be affected by this situation in one way or another.

That is not playing Tennis Mr. Rublev. 👎. For me it feels like watching someone working hard in the production lines of Russian industry. Not a game. No fun. Maybe retire for a year to your home and think about how priviliged your live as a top twenty ATP player is indeed... Come back with a clear mind please.

I think Rublev is making a tw*t of himself when he acts like that! Smashing the racket after match point is so disrespectful to the his opponent and to the crowd. He sould seek some help...
