TBH, I think book Geralt isn't weaker, he is just more cautious, especially with things like higher vampires and stuff, I mean, these fights are non-linear, so it wouldd make a lot more sense for book Geralt to be more cautious. I think a higher vampire CAN be defeated by a skilled witcher like Geralt, just not very reliably, as we saw with Vigo just completely decimating Regis, yes Vigo is like the most powerful human back then but he was in the end still beaten. Fights are non-linear, which is why Geralt is hesitant and describes a lot of things as "very powerful" or "extremly dangerous" because they can be. It's the same as if I ask you can you kill a wolf? You are probably not going to want to try it, but I bet push comes to shove an adult human against an average sized wolf probably could. It's not gonna be the most reliable though, you could also lose. I think realistically that is as far as Geralt would be willing to go in terms of risk wise for coin. So how much do you want to be paid to try and kill a bear with melee weapons and some armor? It's probably a possible feat if you get lucky? Are you gonna bet though? I sure wouldn't. That, is what I think makes game Geralt feel stronger, because it is a game and you get infinite attempts, if it is doable, you know you can do it. Eventually. So Geralt might only have a 10% odds realistically, he will not risk it for nothing because he only has one shot. You however absolutely can make it happen. That would be the key difference.

To my understanding Regis was still weak from being regenerated from the incident with Vilgafortz. Also the blood letting at teshna mutna took a lot out of him. That's why he was so weak against Detlaff

Im glad you ended these long term videos I thought you were decent but you need to stop saying you’re wrong. You keep saying people are wrong it’s just very off putting as a viewer considering a-lot of this is up for interpretation. I am not even a huge witcher fan and I dont disagree with what you were saying content wise but I wouldnt keep watching considering my other point.

I feel like geralt is extremely powerful but far from the most powerful... Yen, triss, letho, ciri (grown) vesemir would all probably kick his butt Yes i mean vesemir would legitenately dog on geralt... Vesemir has at least a century of experience on geralt, he might be slower but he might actually be stronger... Vesemir also knows who geralt is in every way... I know yall might laugh at me but i feel geralt is an extremely good witcher and like a+ tier levels of power While sorcerers and A LOT of characters are S+ or S++ tier yen triss ciri vesemir and higher vampires Geralt just would not touch them...

Great video. I agree with most of your points. The only criticism of video is you using that abomination of a shitshow from Netflix. You should have taken video's from OG series. For example with dragon. It did have scenes about that, and were executed much better, plus they did not have talentless cavill oaf in them. 9:34 Bingo. Like even the Iconic scene with Ada aka striga. In both Books and Games Geralt beats the crap out of striga without serious effort. Striga is below mid tier in power. So yeah, killing it for him not a problem, Uncursing it on the other hand is much more difficult. But lets get back to how Netflix butchered the scene. 1 Striga was beating the crap out of Geralt, she was handing him his ass... and more importantly 2 By portrayal it wasn't even a Striga which is an accursed kind of creature. What we see in the show is Rotfiend which is an Undead kind of creature.... Netflix creators couldn't even follow basic, fucking lore.....

Gerald in the games in not that all powerful. If you play the difficulty on Hard. Then the game feels alot more tense. The only thing I disliked from the game was the very high variability of levels that the same creatures have between certain regions. Weak monsters should stay weak no matter the region and they should only be slightly stronger than their earlier level counterparts. I say this because a pack of wolfs in a lvl 5 erea is literally 10 times harder than a pack of wolfs in a lvl 1 erea. A griffin in a lvl 1 erea feels alot weaker than 3 to 4 zombie-ghouls in a lvl 5 erea which is kinda dumb. That is my only gripe with the game. Other than that Gerald mostly relies on his agility in the game . He does not feel like an allpowerful destroyes like Kratos for example. He feels alot more human.

It's worth pointing a couple of factors that you're not really fairly considering in regards to Geralt's power scaling in the whole 'books vs. games' side of the argument The games are, by their timeline's canon, set to begin AFTER the heavy majority of the main saga's arc - which means the playable Geralt we know is at his PRIME, his most experienced, and roughly his best equipped (which only grows as the games' stories continue.) The second major point worth considering is that Geralt CAN become canonically further enhanced by mutagenics - even if it IS primarily a video game mechanic, it's known that Geralt is well-versed in the use of any and all monster-related serums, recipes, and all manner of concoctions. By the time the games come around, it's not really all THAT much of a stretch to believe he's capable of bettering himself in the pursuit of... NOT dying to some random hunting target. He is, after all, a cunning and calculating individual. The third thing to touch on is that, when you say Geralt is NOT an all-powerful character, you severely undersell just how tenacious he is in the setting, both book and games. I agree - he's NOT extraordinarily powerful, and he is VERY mortal. Yet, even in the books, Geralt is WELL beyond your average witcher in terms of combat capabilities, monster lore and knowledge, magic, and even social standings across the realms. He's one of the last few witchers of a dying breed for a VERY good reason. This all said - I agree with you on things like him not being typically capable of killing a Djinn, (most) water-based monsters, or even a higher vampire on his OWN. Because even he would know his limits.

When i started playing the witcher and reading some of the books. I notice that even gameplay wise, he's not the strongest person ever as he shouldn't be the way ive always seen garelt and witchers is that there just humans with mutations and knowledge on there prey. Even in witcher 1 garelt has said before that a witcher is usless without their potions, and that small bit of dialog told me that witchers are not apex preditors because of the mutations alone it told me that knowledge, potions, and sighns, and training for there entire life on top of the mutations is what makes a witcher great and in witcher 1 i felt that the game captured that idea amazingly for a clunky old game it was fun witcher 2 lost that a little bit i felt but the witcher 3 brought that back a bit.

i think regis tells that they can only be killed by something from their real. and i always got the idea that the ring that regis uses is made from a metal from his own land and if forged into a weapon could kill a higher vampire. but an elder would probably be too much for geralt

To me one of the coolest underdog boss fights similar to Slave Knight Gael is Detlaff. Geralt knew he couldn't kill him, but he still absolutely bodied him to the point he was just a festering corpse so that he could be finished by Regis. I mean the fight and the music is so peak

The thing I really like about Geralt is I see him as a blue collar worker in a high fantasy world. He is interesting because he's NOT overpowered. He's a bounty hunter working based on learned skill, some enhancements (the mutations) and low end magic. It makes him very good at his job but not a god. He's not Aargaron running around with the Arundil the sword that cut the one ring from Sauron's hand he's not Luke Skywalker the chosen one trying to redeem his father he's a guy with a job to do who gets in over his head. THat doesn't make him less of a hero, arguably it makes him more of one, just not a larger then life superhero.

A higher vampire can kill another higher vampire. But doing so is taboo by their culture. As those that know from the end of B&W. That the one that did the killing becomes a target for the clans to attack and is forced out due to killing one of their own kind.

In general, you're wrong that Geralt cannot take a contract on any creature. If the story needs Geralt to take a contract, he will. It's the same argument why Wolverine can always beat Spider-Man or vice versa. It's whatever the writer thinks up in their mind would be an awesome story to tell. Period, end of discussion.

Geralt is just slightly more powerful than other witchers due to his additional mutations which happened because he took to the process of mutating him much easier and quicker than others. He took to the nation easier likely because his mother in all witches media was a Druid

cool video and thx. i still think you overestimate vampires regeneration if you melt one in a pot then add a bunch of shit (maybe silver) in it he cant regenerate on his own . and geralt is mutated 3 times at this point, is a master in close combat took down dragons beat a bear and troll whit his bear fists and soo on he is ment to be the strongest witcherhe grows stronger in the books and in the games at the end he is a monster if you like it or not. there are ways to beat and kill higher vampire like regis sead he cudnt regenerate on his own and he wasnt alive. also only a vampire can kill a vampire thet sounds like bs tbh if goku kamehamehas one he is dead probably even humans can do it whit antimater or something like thet throw it into the sun see what hapens 5 bucks seys he will not come for revange.

Liked the video you forgot the unseen elder. Geralt grows stronger in the first book he is far weaker then he is in the last and soo on in the 3 game he has more mutations and equipment and is the oldest and strongest. Also maybe he cant kill him but he can cut a vampire to pices and melt him then throw some iron in there regenerateing from thet may take thousents of years so he can and does beat dettlaf. Regis didnt wona fight dettlaf couz they are bffs thets why he stayed down. Also i think at the end he can take some monsters on the list like the river creature he has friends and time to prepar. Poison the river or dry it out.
