yw! My mom sent this to me a few years before she passed away. Back in the days AIM she thought I would like it. One, I was shocked she knew of youtube, even more shocked she was able to figure out how to send a link, and finally so so thankful I have this archived reminder of her thoughtfulness.

I love each of these artists, and it's a great song, but this is a little uneven for me. I think it's a bit outside of Michael's range, and I don't think Natalie brings very much that's compelling. This is Peter's song and his signature voice and primal scream are inimitable.

I always think it is cool when people of different generations do their art together. It is very generous of the senior more developed artist... as we know these 2 other vocalists soared.

I read the title, seeing who was singing, and came in with the highest expectations, only for them to be quickly destroyed by this abomination. Peter Gabriel's singing is the only thing floating above mediocre about this performance.

Rather boring performance, but Peter Gabriel really dominates (as he should). Watch "Red Rain 2012" video and live performance of Peter Gabriel makes this performance sound like a cartoon jingle. This song is originally melancholic, heartbreaking, dark and haunting. Peter Gabriel wrote and composed this song and performed it so he is the only person here who does the song justice with his rich, haunting and raspy vocals and he understands the meaning behind the words. Michael Stipes and Natalie Merchant make it sound like a broadway song. They cannot sing a haunting and dark song even if their life depended on it. LOL

+james sheldon that's so agreed and thanks for being honest enough to say so in the first place! I was greatly disappointed for I love the 3 of them individually and even as a duo or two, but this is truly "Broadway the Hard Way" (FZ)

+Duesvinet There is a clip on KZitem from the same concert of Natalie Merchant singing a solo piano version of 'Wonder', a song that she released on her 1995 album 'Tigerlily' and I would guess that this concert was at about that time.

Peter Gabriel simply dwarfed everyone else when he came into the song later with his haunting and soulful song. Natalie and Michael Stipes sounded like rookie kids.

Phobe Romys Are you kidding me? Stipe is an example of a great front man. Obviously you don't understand music to realize that him and Merchant were supposed to be dwarfed by Gabriel. There's a reason they call it FEATURING. You don't try to show up the lead singer.
@JohnTaylor-it3kp

What Remgr said.. and if you don't see the artistic genius in Stipe or Merchant's own performances, you need to get your ears and heart checked. Baritone/Tenor is going to SOUND more powerful... but there's more to it than a big voice. Perhaps more importantly, why not just enjoy these great artists' collective performances? Why must one make one "better" than the others?
