Can you please give me the item numbers if your upgrades. I wanting to reloading. I've done in the past

The reverse rotation auto eject system is from Inline Fabrication. They sell a strong mount and a bin system on their website as well, specifically for the Lee press. I'm not sure what the item numbers were when I bought them. The light I use is from KMS² and they have accessories including the switches, tiedowns and such that you will find helpful, but they don't list the item numbers, you just select them by pull down menus. The Lee bullet feeder die is caliber specific and there are three different bullet magazine kits, depending on the caliber of bullets you want to load, all of which are available at Midway USA.

I shot 80 rounds of factory Sellier & Bellot 6.5 Creedmoor this past weekend. Got it for around $16/box. Just getting trigger time. I have read that the Sellier & Bellot brass has mixed reviews. I've never shot the ammo before now or loaded the brass. But in my Tikkas, the factory ammo is extremely accurate. So, I can't figure out why loading the brass would be an issue, especially if the factory stuff is doing so well. The plan is to just establish a couple good hunting loads to 400 yards for 3 Tikka rifles. I have a custom build coming and I'm saving my Lapua brass for it. Any experience with the S&B brass? Also, I bought 100 rounds of factory Federal Terminal Ascent. I didn't think about it when I bought it but it has small rifle primers. I've never loaded anything with small rifle primers. The intent is to hunt with this ammo also if it will shoot well. There is no shortage of small rifle primers in my area but I didn't want to go down that road if I didn't have to. On the other hand I have 100 potential Federal brass to load in the future and I've had excellent luck with Federal brass. I can get Federal small rifle match primers locally but they want $120/brick. I think they also have CCI 450s. Only advantage to small rifle primers I've read about is the primer pockets tend to last longer. Your thoughts?

I have some experience with Sellier & Bellot brass, both in 308, which is the parent case of 6.5 Creedmoor, and in 9 mm. I have found their brass to be good and serviceable. Unless you intend to stress the brass to the highest end of your load pressures, I would expect you to get 6 or 7 loadings without issue, perhaps as many as 9 or 10. Unless you intend to invest substantially in reconditioning equipment and an annealer, you are not likely to see loadings of higher numbers. I'm sure there are those that will find my numbers either too high or too low. With over 46 years of reloading experience, I trust my experience over that of others, unless I see proof in person. Personally, I've never had an issue with wearing out a primer pocket, unless I was exceeding the pressure limits in a particular rifle. Don't do that. With primers costing twice what they should, buying large and small to accommodate different manufacturers is not particularly fun. My advice is to consider duplicating the factory load that you find to shoot best in your rifle. If that happens to be the one with small rifle primers, then go with it. However, duplicating a factory round requires that you be able to source the factory bullet of choice, which may be difficult. You may, with some research, be able to identify the powder the manufacturer uses. However, you will still need to work up a load using stepped grain increments to duplicate the velocity. My suggestion is to identify the bullet you want to shoot that you can source reliably, then reference several different loading manuals to pick a powder that will give you the velocity you desire, and can be sourced reliably. Pick the brass you have the most of, or can source reliably as well. Then pick a primer that you can source reliably. Hopefully, you see a trend here. Then work up a load that performs well in your rifle.

@@ranseystimson8675 Thank you. I read the 30TC is the parent case of the 6.5CM. I have on hand 140 class Speer Impact, Norma Bondstrike, 130 Accubond, 129 Accubond LR, 135 Berger classic hunter, 130 Berger VLD Hunting, 140 Nosler ballistic tips, and a few more. The Sellier and Bellot factory ammo is just using 131, 140, and 156 grain cup/core bullets. I've been quite impressed at the subMOA to halfMOA 5 shot groups in 3 Tikkas. Could certainly use that on whitetails as is and plan to. I also have the S&B BLUE which is their 120 grain mono blue tipped bullet and it is shooting MOA and under in my wife's Tikka 6.5CM. The S&B brass has been annealed, decapped, and wet tumbled. Will probably size tomorrow after work. All are 1x fired and will still easily chamber so I'm going to neck size only with a bushing. Will trim all and recheck chamber fit.

@@Accuracy1st I've also read that the design of the 6.5 Creedmoor began with the 30 TC, however, both the 6.5 Creedmoor and the 30 TC can be formed using 308 brass. All of the bullets you listed are good bullets. I have found the 140 grain bullets to be very consistent in performance on deer. Pick one that performs well and start there.

Thanks for the input. I actually 3D printed a roller handle for my Lee APP press and love it, however I've been using the original wooden ball handle of the Classic press for many years and I find the ability to grip it like a stick shift on a manual transmission to be advantageous and comfortable, so I haven't attempted to change the handle, at least not yet.

The old ones were good! I have and old Lee Challenger press with a nice smooth handle that is great! The newer ones are more satin, and annoy me after awhile...

Good day. I recently purchased a Lee Classic 4 hole turret press. I also purchased the New Deluxe rotating powered drop. I polished the album housing and am going to lightly sand the drum. I am very curious as to all the modifications you have made. I have seen videos on the washer trick for the prime feed mentioned in the comments. I will also do that, plus placing the internal plastic finger in boiling water and placing. I believe it's a 1/4 socket to spread finger open. I could be wrong on size. I would love to see how you have the bullet feeder. I suspect you're using the inline fabrication reverse drive with the flipper. So yes, do a deep dive on everything you've running.

I do a lot of research about accessories and options before I spend the money. The press is setting on top of a Lyman Universal Stand, which I got on sale with free shipping. It is very similar to the Inline Fabrication stand and I saved about $15 on cost, It is super sturdy and does the job very well. I don't use the roller handle that a lot of reloaders put on their turret presses because I feel the ball handle gives me a better feel for when I am seating primers. There is no wobble, shake or movement in the ball to desensitize the feel. The washer under the mount for the primer feed arm makes a world of difference in the accuracy and alignment of the primer feed. Dropping primers is a pain. Depending on the dies set I am using, I may or may not use a rifle charging die, or a Lee Auto Disk Riser die to raise the powder measure up to an agreeable height. I polished the inside of the aluminum facings of the Lee Auto Drum, and the facing of the plastic drum measure with 0000 steel wool. A super smooth mirror polish on the parts that slide against each other as it rotates allows you to tighten the tension down so that powder doesn't leak out and the drum still rotates easily. I have a 3D printed knob pressed on the tension knob to make it easier to tighten or loosen the tension precisely. I also 3D printed an insert that fits inside the top of the deluxe powder hopper so that I can dump the powder out of a kinetic hammer bullet puller and keep the bullet from dropping into the hopper, when I am taking apart a flawed round. I have two of the powder measures, one of which has the new deluxe auto drum upgrade kit. It is an appreciable improvement. The Inline Fabrication reverse drive case ejection system is awesome. Combining the case ejection system with the Lee bullet feed system makes it run like a progressive, only you still throw the lever 4 times to produce a round. Only having to feed a new case each time the finished round ejects reduces the distractions significantly, allowing me to keep my eyes on the round in progress. Making it easier to see everything that is going on with the round in progress is an LED light with an inline power feed and on/off switch by KMS2 (KMS squared). They sell models that are made specifically for the model press you have. They work perfectly and the kits are complete with what you need to install it properly.

@mfatt2022 Thank you very much. I just got done polishing the turret head tonight . Polished the New Lee Deluxe power measure yesterday. All the information you mentioned, I really appreciate it . I will give 0000 steal wool a try I did see when I opened the box that Lee sent a post card sized advertisement for a new bullet feeder. I did not even know or hear about that. And I will check out Lyman Great looking press, you have very cool

Your primer dropper doesn't seem to be dropping primers. Has that been updated in the past few years? That is the most frustrating part of using my Lee Turret press.

That primer feed is 15 years old. It's all in the adjustment. If the primer feed isn't in proper alignment, it will spit primers on the floor. You need to use a thin washer, or two, under the primer arm mount on the press, to raise it to the proper height. When you have the proper alignment, you will find that the feed is smooth and easy. I probably need to do a video on that.

Thank you. Lee has a lot of excellent equipment and accessories. I own multiple brands and have run everything from single stage presses and turret presses, to 8 station progressive presses. I actually started with the Lee Loader hand dies when I was a kid. I have fewer problems with Lee dies. The quality of ammunition I produce is excellent and the cost is lower. Short of a progressive press, I believe the Lee Classic is the best option for volume production of quality ammunition.
