@@rizzaheer one question, do we have to share apartments? Is there anyway we can get an alone apartment in Loyola?
@rizzaheer
Жыл бұрын
@@zzthelazy351 So Loyola has a two year residency requirement where you are technically supposed to live in dorms. Lot's of kids get around it though by saying they are commuting from home and they will just get an apartment nearby in Rogers Park. If you are wondering specifically about the dorms, some dorms offer studios (just for you), you just need to look through the website and see which dorms offer it. Hope that helped.

Whoa! This is exactly how I want to make my own videos. Got accepted to Loyola Chicago and will probably go. I love the recreation and studious aspect of this vlog as well as ofc the city of Chicago. How much time would you say you spend in the city? Again, awesome video
@rizzaheer
Жыл бұрын
Hey Cate! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Did you see my other video too? Excited to hear you're probably coming. Time spent downtown completely depends on how many classes you have at Water Tower. If you're in the business school or communications school you will likely have classes there at least once a semester. As you progress this will increase. For example next semester all of my classes will be downtown so I will be there everyday. Even if you do not have classes getting downtown is still easy. There is a shuttle that runs all the time and takes around 25 min or so.

Hi! Im thinking of transferring next year to Loyola, what would you say the social/academic life is like?
@rizzaheer
Жыл бұрын
Sorry for getting back to you so late. Social and academic life have been great. Socially speaking greek life is not a big thing at Loyola so if you're looking for that I would look elsewhere. We do have it and I have friends involved who enjoy but it really isn't a big deal if you want to be involved in social life which I find nice. Being so close to the city there are always places to go out to and explore. You'll find a whole range of people as with any school where there are kids who go out all the time, kids who never go out, and many kids in between like myself. It's just about surrounding yourself with friends who want that as well. Academic life is good, depending on your strength as student you may find it easier. I went to a competitive highschool so a lot of the core classes I took were not challenging at all, but as you dive more into your major specific courses they get more interesting and challenging. Generally speaking people like to do well and care about their grades and academics which is great. Professors are good, always check rate my professor as sometimes there are just crappy ones - it happens. Overall I think there is a great balance between the two. Where are you transferring from? Another Chicago school? Let me know if you have any other questions. Sorry again for getting back to you so late.

do you think the commute between campuses is worth it or do you find it it troublesome?
@rizzaheer
2 жыл бұрын
Not at all troublesome. I live at lakeshore campus and 4 out of 5 of my classes are all downtown. What I did though (and I what I would also recommend you do if you have a lot of downtown classes) is to schedule them on the same days. I scheduled mine for MWF. 2 in the morning and 2 in afternoon. So I take shuttle at 9:45 AM downtown and back at 4:00pm every MWF and just spend the day there. When you’re not in classes there’s plenty of places to hang out / study. Food / cafe options too. So if you plan accordingly so that you’re not on the shuttle constantly it’s not bad at all. Shuttle on a good day only takes 20 min too, throw on some headphones and it’s not bad at all. They also come around every 20-30 min so need to time that slightly as well. The only time it would be troublesome I think would be if you were living at Water Tower Campus. I think you’d be going back a lot more since most things are in main campus. Plus the shuttles don’t run on weekend for some reason which would make that hard. Please let me know if have more questions.

Hello! Is there any christian associations on campus? I am probably attending loyola and this might be a deal breaker for me thanks !
@rizzaheer
2 жыл бұрын
What up man, yes there are quite a few: Orthodox Christian Fellowship Christian Medical and Dental Association Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship Agape Christian Fellowship Every Nation Campus at Loyola Christian Life Community (I have friends in this one and they really enjoy it, it is a network of small faith sharing groups. Each group is made up of 6-10 students who are led by an upperclassmen or Ministry staff member. Groups meet weekly to connect, reflect, and put love in action) I'm pretty sure there are more. I would also reach out to organizations directly as through the pandemic some organizations became less active or dissolved. Hope that helped.

I love your videos!! I’m considering going to Loyola on a pre dental track and a big thing for me is diversity. How is the environment at school and what would you say are pros and cons of going there??
@rizzaheer
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Diversity was important for me too when looking at schools. For me the environment has been super accommodating. I'm apart of the Muslim Student Association and Pakistani Student Association which have both been great. In my experience Loyola is really diverse, especially coming from a high school that was predominantly white. PROS: School isn't too big but not too small either, right on the lake which is really cool, access to downtown Chicago, lots of activities available both in and outside of school, having two campuses (lakeshore and water tower), plus many more CONS: Chicago weather (winters are tough), clubs are not very formal except for a select few meaning that they are not organized very well (this can make getting involved in specific areas of interest a little tricky), Shuttles between campuses don't run on the weekends which is stupid in my opinion, tuition is obviously pricier compared to other schools in area, and that is all I can think of off the top of my head I hope that helped in some capacity, feel free to reach out on Instagram with more questions!

Any recommendations for how rising Juniors can look for housing for next year?
@rizzaheer
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrea! I'm a rising Junior also. I currently am planning on studying abroad in the fall, but I still need to find a place to live in the spring. I know most upperclassmen get apartments with friends. I would ask around and see or maybe coordinate with friends. I also know that a decent amount of kids still dorm though also, so I would take a look at a place like Fordham which is nice.
