What Jeep Patriot 2014 version is it? Mine is an AWD with autostick. The rear wheels speed sensors connections are vulnerable AF, and the problem is not the wire. The problem is the ridiculously fragile holding tab within the wheel hub. In case this tinny tab disintegrates, be ready to replace the wheel hub, on both rear wheels.

How do you check the codes to see which sensor is bad? I tried that trick with turning the key on 3 times but doesn't show anything. Advance Auto Parts says the can't check it with their scanner. ???
@andrewpearson3412
3 жыл бұрын
Hey, AutoZone checked my code yesterday for free... bad wheel speed sensor. I think O'Reilly's will do the same too if you have either in your area. If you've got a Harbor Freight you can buy a OBDII code scanner for about $30 and do it yourself. I don't have one, but I'm thinking about making the investment for one. The sensor doesn't look to hard to replace, just hope that's the only problem. The sensor was around $47 from AutoZone tax included. Rock Auto has them for about $15 but then you pay shipping and tax, so that will run around $30 or better. That might come out a little cheaper, but you have to wait a week to get it. I needed to fix mine quickly, so $50 didn't seem excessive. Having a mechanic or God forbid the dealer work on it would cost a ton more. Hope the info helps.

yes mine is doing that once i do sustained highway speed goes to the exact same mark on the gage as this video. My question is did it work just fine after you finished?
@Em-mp9gp
2 жыл бұрын
That's not an issue. I'm sure you know by now but if you don't... the heater core is like a mini radiator. It takes the heat generated by the engine and uses it to warm up the interior. ( thats how you get heat in the cold ) I would never recommend using to cool down your car. But thats why the engine temperature drops
@marked4death076

@@Em-mp9gp well so whats the issue? when you can only drive with the heater on and not overheat...is it still the thermostat

definitely need an answer to this question, mine is the same way...it wont overheat as long as heater is on full blast haha
@michaelxxqvl
2 жыл бұрын
@@marked4death076 It can be several issues but mainly your car is overheating regardless. Turning the heater on full blast will just cool the engine down and is seen as a last resort to cool the engine down. Had the same thing happening to you happen to my 2014 Jeep Patriot, went and got it checked out and had a crack in my radiator so it wasn't holding any coolant. The coolant wasn't able to maintain the temperature in the car resulting in my car overheating.

I just paid the Dealership $180.00 to replace one of these Wheel Speed Sensors on the front of my 2013 Jeep Patriot. The extended warranty was supposed to cover it, but when you actually bring it in for repairs you find out that nothing is covered. Moral: Extended warranties are a JOKE and I could have saved myself some money and done this myself. Thanks, Adam for sharing this video.

Warranties are a lie and a scam! Get some basic hand tools, a code scanner, watch a couple KZitem videos, roll up your sleeves and get to it. There's nothing magical about these things and unless its a catastrophic engine or transmission failure, most things can be done by the home mechanic with a little, research, time, and patience. For the $180 the dealer charged you can have everything you need and have the tools and tech for the next time. Just my thoughts...
