Another interesting story. The man introducing the story reminds me of an Alfred Hitchcock series on TV back in the day.

Toni wrote this wonderful music, and much much more music too, back when everyone told her that she'd never make it as a songwriter - because she's female! She showed them! Her music has been hidden for years, but here it is now, thanks to Jack Allen who holds the rights (Toni was his grandmother). You might want to listen to the conversation I had with Jack about his amazing grandparent (The Incredible Life of Toni Beaulieu is the name of the podcast). Enjoy! Let me know if you love her music as much as I do and I'll post more of it. The melody that begins the program was written by Toni when she was 70. Nothing could stop that woman!

Hi, Donna. Thanks for your note. I'm glad you like the music. Didn't Jeff do an incredible job of telling the story, though? There was another podcast that featured a conversation he and I had after taping the story. Unfortunately, it seems to have gotten lost in the cyber great unknown. Jeff died right after we did this program, but I'll always treasure him calling me when he heard it on KZitem and saying, "I've been a professional voice over actor my entire adult life, but I've never been more proud of a production." What may be mistaken as bad sound at the very beginning is actually sound effects for rain, so don't let it keep you from listening to this excellent mystery. The "rain" doesn't last all that long. Judy Garland fans will surely love this even though she doesn't sing in it. I think her charm is that she sounds so natural. We believe every word out of her mouth. Please let me know if you enjoy these old radio shows. I prowl the Internet trying to find stories with great sound and solid stories that I think you might get a kick out of. Let me know if you'd like to hear comedy. I listen to Bob Hope, Fibber McGee and Molly, Red Skelton, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, but it just seems to me that the punch lines aren't funny anymore. What are your thoughts? Is there a special series you'd like to hear? God bless!!

Hi and thanks for your note. I passed it along to Jack and asked him to reply. I've known Jack for more than 30 years and have never known him to be one to exaggerate. As I understand it, he was with the coroner (actually the assistant coroner at the time) when he got the call to go to MM's home, her "housekeeper" had discovered her body. Several hours elapsed between the time they arrived and the time the death was announced. I don't want to paraphrase Jack because I'm sure to get the details wrong, but I've heard the story many times and it appears to be the truth, she really was murdered. But don't take my word, goodness no. As I say, I wasn't there. I do hope Jack replies and that he can explain it better. God bless.
