I have the same problem but only when it rains, i mean whenever car gets wet this lights will show and wont turn off with the paper clip method. I changed 12v battery its new. My car sometimes wont start until it gets dried out can someone help me

We were row H left of center at Pine Knob this is row 8 but they also sell a pit section with three rows of folding chairs so row H becomes Row 11. It’s pretty close and we didn’t need the monitors to see but the video makes it look farther away. This video is from an old IPhone XS (model 10)

I just wanted to say that your video helped me. I also was having similar issues with my electra glide. You showing how to test the ignition switch with a voltmeter and jumper it is what made me check my ignition switch. I did the exact same thing and it worked. Now to just save enough money for an ignition switch😩 But thank you for the detailed video. That helped a lot

I tried disconnecting the battery and also touching the positive and negative terminals after the battery was disconnected to discharge all the computers, and that did not work for me. My actuator was actually bound, and I had to loosen the bolt to unbind it.

I dont know if you have mentioned it yet, because I havent finished the video - but I havent seen you mention anything about timing in the last video or this one. Is timing important? How does it work? Also, it seems like with the amount of force you take it off and put it on, that it would break a gear tooth

The only time you have to clock the actuator is if you open the actuator and take anything apart. I have a video on clocking too

Use the fuse or add a fuse to run 12 volt power to the blue wire on the harness. Somewhere this wire fails and no longer receives the correct voltage

fixed and verify the switch but that didn't fix it. took apart the bit that the battery connects, and there is a soldered in fuse that is blown. I guess a circuit breaker with a reset switch was just to much money for DeWalt to use? wow!

Yes, the EWS failed so it would not turn the starter. Starter does work. Did a DME reprogram to delete EWS and it is now working with the same key. I was charged $300 to have this done and I will never have to program a key again

Did you decide to purchase replacement and if so do you have a video. Great patience and walk through video.....yours was a "real world" experience. Unfortunately those last 4 bolts were in a horrible position....if easier access you could have used a wire brush and a small file to knock the rust off and square up the heads. When I encounter similar "design better ideas," I wish the engineer who came up with the idea was lying on his back next to me...........I shouldn't say what I'd be doing with my hammer. thanks again...well done.

THis bypass is just to verify the starter works, it will not allow the vehicle to start. You will have to send in the DME (ECU) to have the EWS deleted or order a new key directly from Mini Cooper dealer. The key through the Mini Cooper dealer is the easiest because it will come cut and programmed to start your vehicle for about $300. I did the EWS delete so I would never need to program another key or go to the dealer.

bottom just twisted apart -- if held bottom with left hand and the top with right hand = twist bottom anti clockwise.

Yes, sorry, RPM Motorsports flashed the DME overnight and sent it back overnight and it started first try.

@@jakemir thank you so much for that! Couple questions to confirm, were you able to reprogram with any key as long as the cut matches? Also, can you use any of the key fob features? So here’s my problem. My key is dead and battery cannot be replaced. I was only given one when I bought the car. We have narrowed the problem down to communication between DME,EWS and key. Mini wants 405 for the key and I worry it can just do the same thing again or maybe even have a bad DME/EWS. Thank you!

This is the best way I have found to resolve the key issues. The dealership is the best option to get the correct key cut and programmed to your vin but it is about $325 per key. The lock and unlock will still have to be programmed. The EWS delete requires the removal of the DME and shipped out and then reinstalled. With the EWS delete any laser cut key will work and any aftermarket key will work but still has to be programmed to lock and unlock. The EWS delete makes the car no longer locate the EWS to verify the key is factory and the delete will not require a reprogram when the battery dies in the car. It was a better option for me. Call a mini dealer and ask the cost of the programmed key. It ships from BMW

Hello my friend. Thank you so much for the video. I am having EXACTLY the same issue that you are having in this video. I put the actuator on and my center diff engages and disengages fine. But my 4 lo engages fine but it does not want to come out of the 4lo and it just flashes 4lo when I try to take it out. I also hear the same long beep from actuator followed by small beeps (5 min and 57 seconds in your video). You skipped the part of how you fixed that? Please do share because I am so close to fixing it. Thank you!

Wow, awesome video man!! This will be super handy for me when I replace my actuator. I was quoted 3,000 to replace my transfer case and shift actuator as a whole unit. My 4runner won't move in 4H, but will drive forwards and backwards while in 4L with the center diff locked. I'm thinking I will replace the actuator myself using this method and see how it goes. Most people remove the entire transfer case, but this seems way more straight forward!

@@jakemir I figured I would try this first. Diff lock rod goes on fine every time, 4Lo/Hi rod doesn't seem to be catching. Still won't come out of 4lo. Truck will only move forward/ backwards when the center diff is locked too, which is weird.

Unfortunately the 4LO motor is the one back further, which is harder to access. In the video I show the wires that power the motor. Verify there is 12 volts or remove the connector or add 12 bolts to see if the motor will move. Best thing to do is loosen the (3) 12 mm bolts holding the actuator and rock it side to side with the vehicle in neutral on a flat area and leave the key in the ON position. The vehicle does not have to be running and see if the actuator will unbind

i have a 2006 V8 AWD and when i put it in 4LO nothing lights up or beeps. but my center diff lock does work. could it be a bad selector switch?

Most likely a bad motor in the actuator but the Center diff lock is more important than 4LO anyway so at least the better motor is working. There are two motors in this actuator

I was able to fix this. I removed the 4wd switch and two of the prongs were bent on the switch. Everything working properly now.

You should just send in you DME (ECU) located in the engine compartment and do an EWS delete. It is $300 and you will never have to program a key again. The issue is the EWS you have needs to be programmed to the vehicle and the DME has to be programmed to recognize the EWS. The EWS is the easier alternative and the fuse will stay in the old EWS location.

Mine was difficult to shift and did not always show I was in gear or neutral so it caused issues with 4Lo. These can also be adjusted about a quarter in forward or backward if your is not showing that it is in the correct position

What does the dash display show? Does it light up in P and R and N as you move the shift lever? They should match, if it does not match this part would be the issue. You can also unplug the part without removing it and see what happens

It’s located under the vehicle passenger side of transmission and it’s a standard automotive blog with a clip. It sounds like your is out of adjustment

At 3:30 you will see I used a new wire from the top fuse and pushed it into the blue wire connector. You can use an Add-a-fuse on Amazon and splice to the blue wire too. The blue wire is the problem, needs 12v. Basically you are bringing in 12v to the blue wire. It’s a common issue on the Prius with voltage issues. Sorry, I made this video 5 years ago
