Hey mate what sort of range do you get out of this bike?
@lewtsun

about 30km or so. You can extend that though depending on how much effort you are putting into peddling.

That was fun. Thought that might be Churton Park at first but then you got to the end of the street and I was looking at my old house when I lived there in the late 70's. Talk about old haunts. Used to go up and down that Bridle Track many a time, long before anyone had thought of ebikes. Thanks for posting this.

Few years on, how has this bike held up to commuting?

Starting to notice some degradation in the battery -- dpesnt quite have the same range it did when new -- other than that still going strong. I hear batteries have also improved since I purchased.

@@lewtsun fantastic. If you don't mind me asking how many KMs have you put on it? Thanks for your reply!

Looked like a great Wellington morning, what a view. What sort of speed can you get up to on the flats?
@lewtsun

40kph on the flat, but going down hill it also cuts off at that same speed so I think it has been restricted for legal reasons.

Nice vid. I don't know why, but its rare to see double front rings on e bikes. There are so many e bikes out there with 8 speeds that can't climb without significant rider input! Been riding a 27 speed Emotion 29er which eats the steep Dunedin hills where I live. That said, I cant help wanting to try a Catalyst which with 20 gears, should also be a good climber. Buyers beware, If you want to climb decent hills in comfort, gears matter even on an e bike!

Hi lewtsun, thanks for the vid. How are you finding the Catalyst since you posted this vid? Any issues? Thinking of getting one myself.

simon lambert glad you enjoyed the video. I did get an issue with a faulty torque sensor the first week, but the guys at Wellington Electric Bikes replaced it and i've had no problems since then. have been using it for work almost daily and its been great, would certainly recommend it if you're on the lookout for an ebike. If you only need it for commuting though you may be better off looking at the Smart Motion Pacer road bike.

lewtsun Thanks for that. I have been looking at the Pacer but like the idea of the front suspension and larger tyres for comfort. I will be mostly comuting with it though.

The Catalyst does of course also give you the option of going off road too -- I took it on a mountain biking track a few weeks ago and it was quite capable, although you do need to keep in mind the extra weight and power on the slippery tracks.

lewtsun yes more capable bike. I see lights, carriet and guards can be fitted as well for comuting.

Hi Simon, that appeals to me too. adding guards, lights and a carrier to the fat tired Catalyst, to get the best of both worlds. I currently ride a Ezee Swift front drive ebike, and it is good, but I am looking to change to newer technology and style. These new Smartmotion bikes look good.
