The loud long music soundtrack is extremely boring and energy draining. It's difficult to concentrate on certain spiritual aspects of martial arts. Martial arts is first spiritual and physical last.

Nothing funny about that.A training SCENARIO for you. Two guys wearing white T shirts , +two black marker pens simulating knives ,now go for it,how many times were you struck? Now add the fear factor, Dan INNOSANTO also used this method. You realise in two seconds you don,t need to be 5th dan black-belt to survive it,s a great leveller.

You really can see the fencing style footwork in JKD, spring loading the back leg and keeping your centre of gravity over the back foot allows for springing in any direction to attack or avoid an attack, it also helps with non-telegraphic kicks as the back foot does not have to move. Most important part of learning an effective fighting skill is stance and positioning, once you have that down you then focus on types of attack, speed, accuracy and attack strength.
@SamKeepsitReal1

Yes Bruce Lee loved Fencing Savate Kendo + more of course as had 3000 fighting related books in his library & Watched ALI fights over & over combined with his other research & Natural talents etc help develop that Explosive power of JKD as you mentioned the spring loaded back leg Bruce perfected combined with power from his hip + leg speed = non telegraphic kicks you also said if his blinding punches didn't get you first that is Also speed comes from Relaxation we can't be our fastest if were tense

forriza miller apparently he not that well liked in the JKD circles either. No one from the Inosanto academy have a good word to say about him. and everyone that has met him say the same thing you say he just teaches less than basic kickboxing
@walterevans2118

@@themusicman7437 & forriza you are both Talking rubbish .....Please do your research better....Tommy teaches ECONOMY to DECISIVE TARGETS ....Nothing to do with kickboxing with rules....Original JKD Tommy teaches is FAR more ECONOMICAL & PRACTICAL for street defence than kickboxing.....His taught motion is straight line more than curved line...Watch the movement.....The reason the Inosanto Academy dont like him is because Tommy is simplifying whereas they are just adding things on.

Yes of course; but showing off for people that don't know better is much different than just showing off. Not only is it fully disingenuous to those who don't know better; it is harmful to the already much decayed fabric of society that thinks everything can be learned quickly; or that conflict can be resolved minimally. It is harmful to the many who don't know better by providing them with an incomplete reality; like a kid trying to defend with a snap kick because the Karate kid did it; or witnessed a trained UFC fighter use it. So when it comes time to really defend themselves; a lot of people imitate the actions of others with less than desirable results. Do you know the primary reason why Karate and Tae Kwon Do classes typically have the most students in them? It aint because they are the best defense training; it's because they are the easiest. So easy in fact that anyone can do them with the least effort. The more difficult arts that aren't watered down are meant to teach; train, and condition you for life saving combat. They usually only have a hand full of students. The people who don't know better see a guy throwing punches and kicks with amazing speed by Tommy; but what they don't know is that a Jeet Kune Do practitioner doesn't win or survive attacks simply from darting in strikes from a safe distance as Tommy demonstrates; nor from being extraordinarily fast as Tommy is. There is a reason the Mook Jong is made the way that it is. If fast striking to key spots was all that was needed; that rubber muscle dummy they sell as a martial arts training bag would have simply evolved from the trunk of a tree. If you go into Tommy's actual classes and see his student's moving the same way he does in his show off theatrics videos I suggest that you find another art to learn. We don't dart kicks and punches from safe distances at people in JKD. We blast right in through their core. That space that they occupied is the space you take, and from there your conditioning and training allows you to assume complete dominance; without thinking or concern for the bloody nose that your swift striking foe happened to give you, because you just broke his jaw; his arm, and stomped his face in. Look; for most fights all you need is a fast punch or kick; but occasionally we have disputes with bad people who are trained, and for them we want authentic real training that conditions you in ways the watered down to draw the crowd and make a buck arts won't. You should also cross train in other arts. There aren't any arts that will teach you the whole package. By the way; people buy shitty cars everyday because they look good. We call those people suckers.
