I would love to know where I can find an audio recording of this performance. I’ve been obsessed with this song lately. And none of the recordings I’ve found on streaming platforms come close to this level of care and quality.

A solo melody, with reverence. Wonderful. I've heard it called different names because some of us will never know a farewell to music. It simply absorbs us into it.

My family, until the Great Betrayal by my wayward kin and the subsequent confiscations when the Treaty of Limerick was abandoned were patrons of traditional filid and Harpists, had been since at least the time when their Tuath moved into Munster and subjugated the Desi, who'd collaborated with Danes. I congratulate Ciara: tá se go an han mhaith! And, we continue to support wherever we are.

With your kind permission I used part of your stunningly beautiful recording as part of the soundtrack in my film reminiscing about my time singing in Dunguaire Castle, our Harpist, Aiveen Anderson, used to perform this piece, but I didn’t have footage of her, so I was delighted to find this perfect rendition. I will link to your video on my video comments. Here is a link to my video: kzitem.info/news/bejne/ro2c3HyipKyZmJgsi=PVh8nVCmgSGJxoN2

That is beautiful, go raibh míle maith agat. He was an impoverished blind itinerant entertainer/composer at a time when Ireland had been laid waste by puritanical, land-hungry adventurers; the whole social system that supported such artists had been destroyed just before his birth. Carolan did not consider himself a mere traditional Irish composer, he saw himself in the ranks of the greats, Handel, Vivaldi, JS Bach......maybe in different circumstances it could have been so.

Stunning arrangement and performance of music I just discovered this morning here on KZitem. I listened to several other versions. Yours is by far the most musical and carries the most emotion. I feel in your playing a true connection with O'Carolan.
