Back around 1990, I acquired an old 70's Sims cruiser. I think it got stolen somewhere along the line, because I haven't seen it in 20 years and I've moved 3 times. I really wish I still had that board! Btw, someone threw that Sims in on a trade. My Vision Gator and Roskopp "green face" decks and a set of OJ 2's for a complete Tony Hawk claw, with Independent trucks, swiss bearings and some slimeballs.🤑

Hey there ! What do you think about making a board with "Pine Wood" ? Is it solid enough ? Just for cruisin a bit. I ain't gonna rip the bowl anyway. All the best Thib

Yeah pine works fine for cruisers depending on the length tho, wouldn’t recommend it for a longboard but anything smaller than a regular skateboard would be fine

I know this video is a few years old, but those who don't like solid plank skateboards should watch SkaterDater or some other early skateboard films. Many of the old school skateboards were more durable than you would think. One of my brothers had a Nash blue shark skateboard in the 1970s. When I came across it in our parents' garage in the 1990s, the wood was still in good condition. The metal wheels were a different story. You have to be selective about things like the type of wood and the grain direction if you want a board that's going to last. But if you're looking to make a basic cruiser/sidewalk surfer that's not going to break the bank -- and if you can get used to a board with no flex -- a solid plank will do just fine.

That deck will split length ways when put under pressure. It will also get wheel pinch if some descent size wheels are put on it. Not really a fan of this type of work, there is so much more skill needed to make this a true solid timber deck

How do you know where to put the trucks. For example how far forward/back on the board ???
@sk8erz.in.progress267
6 жыл бұрын
Well, it depends on what kind of board you want most boards generally have 13.5" distance, and some have 14" so it just depends on what kid of board you want.

We just estimated depending on the width of the paper in Microsoft Word. General letter sized paper is 8.5 inches so we just scaled the template to approximately fit the width of the paper. Thanks for watching, let us know if you have any other questions!
