If you use some needle nose pliers it should do the trick. Make sure you're putting it on the right spot, some sections are thicker than others

Thanks Jonathan. The point on not overtigthening the valve really helped me, as I almost got it wrong on my first try.

Great video! The little clips are easier to hold onto if you put an elastic band over the needle nose plier handles to keep it closed while you remove or insert. Or use hemostats. The o ring for the valve stem is a size BS008.

Great video with a lot more detail than others. Very helpful. Previously the steam was coming out of the wand at about 75% with the valve closed. After reversing the seals the valve actually works again. However, the inlet side of the valve now leaks. It leaks at the point where the flexible hose meets the O-ring and is secured with the hair pin retainer. The red O-ring looks fine. I tried re-seating it, still leaks. Any suggestions?

Glad it helped! Not 100% sure without seeing it, but a couple of thoughts 1) Try putting the O ring on the flexible hose first rather than seating it in the metal part, then put it back together and test. 2) At the end of the flexible hose, is the metal bit pushed into the hose enough? Sometimes the metal bit pulls out too much and can cause issues. 3) Sometimes the oring looks fine, but has still degraded enough so the seal doesn't work (cant see with the eye). Try replacing it if you can

Great video ... solved my problem ... THANK YOU Jonathan! Question: The old o-ring was buried in the ceramic tube and I was unable to remove it (even though I could see the edges of it), no matter how hard I tried (using jewelers screwdrivers and picks). I ultimately went ahead and installed a new o-ring in addition to the old one. The new ring also went up inside the ceramic and was barely visible, so (for better or worse) I installed a second (an additional) new o ring, which now is about half inside the ceramic tube and about half out of the tube. The steam no longer escapes and the machine has been working fine for a couple of days. I had to compress the assembly (the o-rings) ever so slightly in order to install the c-clip. I SHOULD have tested the assembly with just one new o ring ... it may well have worked fine ... but I am crossing my fingers that the (crazy?) combo of the old o-ring and two new ones ends up doing the job for months or, hopefully, years to come. Thanks again. BTW, the rings I used were as suggested by @turbotrana below (2.5mm ID 4.5mm OD and 1mm C/S food grade silicon).

My pleasure! Glad it was helpful! Yeah I'm not surprised that happened - I found it difficult to get mine out! If it eases your mind I would have done the same in your situation. Maybe not ideal but you can be sure it won't leak. I can't really imagine what issues that would cause? Good on you for giving it a crack!

I just measured it up and you got the wrong O ring size. I am pretty sure OEM is 2.5mm ID 4.5mm OD and 1mm C/S food grade silicon. You put in the 1.5mm cross section which is a tight fit and may last forever but the 2.5mm x 1mm will slip in easier. I got a feeling that it may be designed to leak under certain conditions so OEM size might be important.

Thanks for doing that! I was going off advice I'd read online in a few places, so can't claim to know which is better. Its worked well for me so far, but if anyone's unsure this option may be a better one to try out!

Awesome thanks for sharing! My wand has a slight drip, I'm guessing it might get worse over time, but not something that NEEDS to be fixed until it becomes worse? I also hear a slight hissing sometimes that goes away after I activate the steam wand for a second. Not sure where that's coming from or if it's related.

You're relieving the pressure of the boiler, it must be leaking from one of the connections above the boiler

I have had my BDB for many years now and didn't bother opening it up unit recently and noticed a lot of rust/ corrosion around the steam value mounting section. It meant a lot of the screw heads popped off when trying to undo and untimaly means it is on its last legs. Keep up with the maintaince of replacing orings (which are the easiest things to do) and the machine will last and last.

Great video, I have found flipping the seals only lasts a few months before the wand leaks again. Teflon tape is a must or it will definitely leak

might sound like a dumb question, but where did you use the teflon tape? On the thread? or some how on the washers some how? thanks

@@Swifteagle on the threads only required for the joint where he mentions " you don't have to tighten this all the way only until there's friction" i had to use teflon and nip it all the way or it would leak progressively tightening did not work for me

@@Swifteagle the main reason I didn't fully tighten, is because with new ceramic flat washers, when you tighten too tightly, the ball with struggle to turn as the washers haven't been indented enough yet

have the same problem. I noticed the machine start hissing a couple of weeks ago, but just ignored it. Multiple probes were hissing it turns out. probably too late as the electrics are now cooked and the heat control is out of whack. probably need to replace the printed circuit board controller.

Was it loud, I get a slight hiss sometimes, it goes away if you turn the steam on for a sec so I'm guessing it's something related to the steam boiler pressure. I don't see any steam leak or moisture but I hear it from somewhere... taunting me :D

If you put the c clip back on and it falls off, you've put it too low! The cylinder is a touch thicker higher up
