I’ve had this strain ever since recovering from back injury strangely enough. Never felt what a strain or pulled muscle was until this. It’s been a year and half and it keeps coming back. First time I felt it I knew something was of cause it felt like a ball formed inside and immediately had to limp of the field. I incorporated heel raises and single heel raises which did help but I always felt the sensation of it. Last week I strained it after just 20 min of running around and luckily it’s just a mild strain but frustrated that it won’t leave me

The flex bar is what caused my thumb tendonitis when I had none previously, while treating bilateral epicondylitis (which i got 2 weeks into my shoulder surgery). I would not recommend using them at all. Now I have two issues I'm treating. I also didn't know i cubits varus elbows. Been doing PT for 3 years and PRP injections. My only other option is surgery per my physician for my elbows at this point.

My son has a very bad strained calf muscle, but he also has a torn ACL. They will not do surgery until the calve muscle has some range of motion. Right now we cannot touch it without pain. Can I do the first couple exercises with him with a torn ACL?

These are good, but eccentric calf exercises are *very* important and help strengthen and lengthen muscles.
@PTTimewithTim
10 күн бұрын
Absolutely agree with you, however, these exercises are meant more for the acute injury phase and just a bit beyond. Eccentrics will load the tissue significantly, but they are a critical part of the rehab process.

My left calf was hit by 20 kilo barbell (which was in stand position left by somebody rather than to leave lying position😅 and my sack bag was touched with it on the way while walking out from the Centre and that stood 20kg barbell was fell down on my left calf and the doctor said my first layer muscle was torn. Now I rest in playing Gym. And I am searching home exercise to recover it while resting at home. Could I have your suggestion? I have watched your KZitem right now. Thank you in advance.

How soon after a strain should I start these?
@CancerTreatmentOutcomes
23 күн бұрын
Very well explained, but the exercises are beyond what most people can do with arthritic hips that have deteriorated to the point of requiring hip replacement. For example, strengthening glutes is important, and just learning to squeeze/tighten your butt from standing, lying down or sitting positions a few times a day is plenty.

Isn't that second one crossing your legs??
@PTTimewithTim
27 күн бұрын
Great question. This is an easy misunderstanding that is made by many people. Post-op precautions regarding crossing of the legs is referring to a traditional female style of crossing the legs. This is when the leg crosses the midline of the body. The “male” version of crossing your legs does not involve the leg crossing midline though should still be done slowly and with caution initially. You can read my detailed article on this with illustration at pttimewithtim.com/exercises-before-hip-replacement-surgery/

The pectoralis is a broad muscle. It extends from the clavicle above down as far as the 73 below, and its origins. Stretching it at one height as you demonstrate on the video is not sufficient. It needs to be done that at least three different heights, including below the shoulder, at the shoulder, and above the shoulder for further inclusion of the pectoralis minor, when the palms are held on the wall above the shoulder, the wrist can be bent downward, and ulnar deviation

I am having a lateral approach hip replacement. No crossing legs. With your Piliformis hip external rotation stretch you are crossing a leg. Is this somehow OK?
@agg2444
Ай бұрын
thats exactly my thought, seems like a very dangerous position id say leave that one out!
@PTTimewithTim
Ай бұрын
This is a great question, with most lateral approaches the precautions include hip internal rotation (crossing of the legs), however the piriformis stretch is hip external rotation. Of course, always follow your surgeons guidelines. If you read my article on preparing for this surgery, you’ll see the pictures which explain everything. Doc, just subscribed to your channel. I am behind the 8-ball. My left knee replacement is in exactly 3 weeks. Any value in your 8 exercises? Also, given the rotation of 8 exercises, how many times a day? "Someone" said that since I only have 3 weeks instead of 6-8 weeks, I should do these 2-3x a day. Yet today, even the 2nd set seemed painful. Thoughts?

Ive watched the first two exercises and came straight to the comments to see if i was the only one who couldnt even begin to achieve these. Heartened to see im not. However, i did them on my good leg and you can feel it right where you should, i guess i should have found this video a couple of years sooner. If i could actually do these i probably wouldnt be a candidate for total hip replacement though.

Thank you Dr. Tim. I am going in for TRKR on July 30th I am scared. Your exercises are helpful except, I noticed you are not alternating the legs. Is there a reason for that? Should I be exercising just the effected knee and not the other one? Also, I am unable to do any exercises sitting down.can I do then laying in bed?. Thank you
@PTTimewithTim
Ай бұрын
Hi Shahida, yes alternating legs is typically the best technique. I just didn’t for the video because of time limitations. Also, most of the exercises can be modified to a lying position if needed. I would highly recommend that you check out my article on preparing for this surgery as it answers a lot of questions that you likely have about before/after surgery. Great video Tim! Just two questions and one comment: Q1) The sit-to-stand seems a little too easy for me. Can I substitute deep knee bends? Q2) I assume "daily" means 7 days/week (vs. 5 days/week to allow muscle recovery)? C1) When first trying to learn each of these, it might be helpful to keep the "sets X reps" graphic up during your entire explanation.
@PTTimewithTim
Ай бұрын
The sit to stand can be progressed by doing a standard body weight squat, but only if it doesn’t aggravate the hip joint. Daily typically refers to 5 days with rest days built in to allow the body to recover. Thanks for the comment and questions, Tim!

I have this problem. I find that pain increases when I exercise. So should I rest till I become pain free? Do hot and cold packs help?
@PTTimewithTim
Ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I wouldn’t recommend having the mindset that I shouldn’t exercise because I have hip bursitis. Rather, I shouldn’t do exercises that make my hip pain worse. There are specific exercises can actually be beneficial to relieving hip bursitis. Yes, cold packs can help significantly reduce the pain from this condition. I would strongly urge you to read my article on bursitis, which will explain how the condition develops and what to do and not do. You can find it here: pttimewithtim.com/hip-bursitis-exercises/
